BTW, the only person listed above who made good music in my opinion is ADELE. I’m glad at least one artist was able to break the barrier by releasing quality music and having chart success simultaneously. Outside of Adele, the state of today’s music makes it very difficult to achieve both. Adele is an exception to the general rule that releasing good music nowadays does not guarantee major chart success or awards. Bey put out good quality music with mediocre chart success and pretty good sales. She made her choice. She has already enjoyed major chart success and awards and has earned the right to do whatever makes her happy. As a huge fan of her album ‘4’, I’m glad she put principal over position.

I’m not really sure what you are blathering on about but not all music produced in 2011 was generic. Sure a great deal of manufactured acts who are heavily backed by a biased media seem to top many of the lists this year (e.g. Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Naked Perry, Justin Bable etc). That doesn’t mean however, Chris Brown’s F.A.M.E., Beyonce’s 4, R.Kelly’s Love Letters and quite a few others , were not well developed and very well appreciated CDs inspite of who sold what. The music industry is controlled as well as the media. Most media outlets are owned by the very record company’s that produce these acts. It is what it is. Just support those artists that you believe in regardless of their Billboard list entry!

Why didn’t TGJ staff post the R&B/Hip Hop top ten albums? Bey’s 4 of course landed in the top ten. It’s actually the first R&B album on the list (with the others being Hip Hop or in the case of Rihanna, Pop). I don’t understand why Billboard insists on lumping the R&B and Hip Hop artists together especially when the Hip Hop artists are already represented on the Billboard Rap charts. Also don’t know why they assume that all black artists are R&B when Rihanna doesn’t even consider herself R&B and anyone with ears would agree with her.
Also TGJ failed to list Rolling Stone’s top single’s of the year in the Rolling Stone/Time post. Bey’s “Countdown” made the RS top ten!
