Nelly Furtado Readies ‘Loose’ Follow-up With Hitmaker

Published: Saturday 24th Dec 2011 by Sam

It’s been almost 6 years since Nelly Furtado set the charts ablaze with her career-defining album ‘Loose’. Produced almost entirely by Timbaland, the 2006 set churned out hit after hit, etching the words ‘Promiscuous’ and ‘Maneater‘ into Pop consciousness.

And then it went silent.

Furtado spent the years following raising her daughter and releasing Spanish material.

However, the wheels are finally a-turning for the singer’s return to the English speaking charts. And this time she’s enlisted help of a noted hitmaker.

Posting a new video diary to her official Youtube, the 33 year old revealed that the project codenamed ‘T.S.I’) is being laced with production from none other than Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins (‘Lose My Breath’, ‘Telephone’, ‘Feedback’):

Exciting times! Darkchild is as stellar as stellar gets as a producer. Although, one has to wonder if Timbaland (who was responsible for Nelly’s huge resurgence) will contribute the LP in any capacity.

Not that we’re entirely too fussed. He was slaying something vicious a few years back, however his beats these days are late and lacking. That said, producer and artist “comebacks” are but one hit away. Let’s hope, it plays as such for Ms. Furtado.

Your thoughts?

YES!GO NELLY!I like her a lot and Loose was a beast! (not that ‘Woah Nelly’ and ‘Folklore’ were bad 😉 ).I can’t wait for her comeback (as long as it sounds nothing like ‘The Night Is Young’ 😳 ).She’s really creative and I like the fact that she’s working with urban producers, they showcase her edginess so well 🙂

(Timbaland will be involved in the project and so will the Neptunes and probably Missy Elliott too 😎 )

    Excited!

Yay, the return of an actual ARTIST
    not a fame w****

Nelly writes, plays instruments and never tried to INFLATE herself.
She lets her artistry speak for her.
