This is so childish but very very true. They’ve built her up as this huge megastar but she has the lowest first week sales out of all the contemporary girls. I didn’t know Ciara sold that much with Evolution and sure as hell didn’t realize that Rihanna had never sold anymore than 300k. I thought RR sold 400k but i was dearly mistaken.

It is not about first week sales, unless you can do over a million and most black acts do not do that. Madonna, Sade etc have had huge albums NOT DEBUT AT NUMBER 1. EVEN IN THE UK, JESSIE J MEGA SELLING DEBUT only went in at number 2. Then, Rita ORA goes to number 1 with 40 k in one week, Cher lloyd ( xfactor usa today ) debuted at number 4 with 64k in her first week. Who sold more between Rita Ora and Cher lloyd. Xtina stripped debuted at number 3, with first week sales bigger than most number ones. And what? And WW – unapologetic will outsell Taylor, Beyonce, Nicki etc. So there!
She won’t let up.

Are u serious Sam?? Such a hater! Rihanna at least has a consistency when it comes to album sales..and her fan base grew from album to albums. She may not be a mega first week seller such as Taylor or Gaga but she still managed to put out platinum plus albums (asides Music of the Sun) where is your favorite? Kelly Rowland = major flop, Ciara = on the verge of getting drop if her next album doesn’t live up to expectation; since the last two bombs worst than Baghdad. No one dare to do 1 album per year without fear of over exposure since Elvis, Frank Sinatra and the Beatles and that was generations ago. Sam this post was pathetic. Comparing her to past album sales as far back as Ciara’s The Evolution? Times have changed musically and how people buy music has now changed. I dont really see Ciara selling those numbers anymore. I dont see her getting another #1 album. What is unimpressive is the numbers that Basic Instinct brought in, or even Fantasy Ride. I’ve seen a lot of artists on Ri’s level who have sold less but have gotten a number 1 album, especially in those quiet weeks.
Also like you said Sam she is stronger in her single sales than her album sales, so the Unapologetic sales are impressive and is an achievement!!!!!!!!

Everyone’s doing a lot of research but the BOTTOM LINE is everyone listed above except Ciara is still doing good. Bey AND Rihanna both have good careers whether they fans want to admit it about the other or not. When it comes to sales and commercial success they are comepetitive but when it comes to talent, everyone knows Beyonce has no competition from Rihanna in that department.
