I can’t hide the fact that I’m Arab from a group of racists so for that reason comparing gay rights to racial equality is wrong. I don’t believe sexuality is a choice but I do believe that gay people have a nerve to compare what they go through to what black people went through.
Black =/= Gay. I am bisexual and never plan on telling anybody about it and NOBODY around me knows, I have a girlfriend and all my boys think I’m completely straight. There are some very valid points being raised here. The Church as a whole needs to repent and accept that it has made some drastic errors and sinned with regards to how it has treated gay and lesbian people. Doing this while glossing over the severity of ministers who sleep with other women in the Church and embezzle money is a dank hypocrisy we are still swimming in. However, the Church has a responsibility to uphold Biblical values and the homosexual community should not pressure the Church to conform to its standards when they only want half the message. They cannot have their wedding cake and eat it too!
Macklemore was wrong to include 1 Corinthians 13 in the song. Don’t people understand that the same God of love is also the one of judgement? I love how people bring the Bible up when it’s convenient for them. Most of the people commenting about God and the Bible be the same ones cussing people out in a post about Beyonce vs. Rihanna. But anyhow, I don’t agree that being gay is something you “choose,” straight people don’t choose to be straight. You can’t choose who you’re attracted to. With that being said, it bothers me when supposedly straight men and women are so concerned about what gay people do. If it’s not concerning you then it’s not your business. As far as the African American Civil Rights Movement comparison, it’s not quite the same. Maybe in places like Africa but definitely not here in America.
