Tamar Braxton, as reported, will be unleashing her third studio album onto the masses this April.

Never one to rest on her laurels, the singer, reality star, and talk show host is already hard on the promo trail for the as yet untitled set – which follows 2013’s ‘Love & War’.

The 37-year old was tapped to open for Maze and Frankie Beverly in Atlanta recently and used to slot to perform new material from her project.

Watch her belt lead single ‘Let Me Know’ live below…

That was…interesting.

The “good” lay in the fact that Tamar’s stage presence has improved ten-fold and she oozes an effortless divadom. Put simply, she puts on a “show”.

However, the vocals – while solid for the most part – were pancake flat when that bridge kicked in. All the belting and whistling may seem awesome on the surface, yet it was clear to the ear that there wasn’t much control.

That said, Tamar boasts a vocal range and skill-set that many of her contemporaries could only dream of. As such, with the right tweaking, future performances could easily be better.

Truth be told, if it’s a “show” she’s keen to give, then we’re all for her just lipping the song’s climax so as to provide a more polished product.

Because, while we believe in pushing oneself to be the best live, the top performers of today enjoy such status because they are tactile enough to know when to employ momentary smoke and mirrors to deliver premium performances.

Just saying.

I like Tamar but I’ve always thought she struggles singing live. Sometimes she’s on, sometimes she’s off. Lord, that whistle at the end was so jarring; I thought glass was about to shatter! Come on Tamar, I know you can do better!

  11. HYISI January 7, 2015

LMAO! That audience was so disinterested! Flat, trying too hard, awkward vocal flourishes, random dance movement! Beyonce’s performances during the DIL era>Tamar at her best! Tamar fans swears she is this huge star, while love and war is stuck at 399,450 in the Us and less than 100,000 in world sells…

  12. Casual-T January 7, 2015

Well, the song is average and lackluster, so the performance would logically follow suit. The whistle note at the end, though.

  13. Danny Bey January 7, 2015

I’m a fan of Tamar d ending on the day. But she needs to stop trying recreate Beyoncé’s Verizon Ladies First Tour from 2004.

    • Danny Bey January 7, 2015

      *depending

  14. Carry On January 7, 2015

  17. ENOUGH ONIKA January 7, 2015

I thought she was running around calling this a promo single now due to the floppage?

  18. TheElusiveLamb January 7, 2015

    Interesting…

  19. Gee January 7, 2015

The performance was kind of lazy but that doesn’t take away from Tamar’s potential and talent.

  20. DanYiel Teflon January 7, 2015

I’m sorry it’s performances like this that turn me away from her I’ve always hated singers with “The Struggle” range always trying to prove they can sing soprano I’m actually quite done with her talents “The Struggle Is Real!!”

  21. Blacksista January 7, 2015

Toni you know I love you.

  22. FutureCIARA January 8, 2015

Chawld….. These comments…. I wont even bother! LMAO

  23. Dev January 8, 2015

That high note is really annoying. When you listen to Mariah, Chante, Minnie the notes are smooth, but Tamar’s is just a screech like she’s singing and someone grabbed her throat.

  24. BlessedToBeMe January 8, 2015

For everyone who thinks that Tamar whistle notes are fake really need to go listen to her first album! Nothing about her Vocals are fake or manufactured, she has a very beautiful voice that majority of the artist that are out don’t have, and she has great talent!Tamar is also one of the artist that is bringing back Real R&B,Real Singing,Real Vocals, and Great Music!!
