As we reported here, Mariah Carey‘s 2017 may not have started on the best note, but now the multi-octave diva is looking to turn things to a positive note.
Tapping rapper YG to assist, the pop icon is moving ahead with ‘I Don’t’ – a very personal breakup anthem reportedly set to address the failure of her relationship with billionaire beau James Packer.
Already giving fans a taste of what she’s serving up, tonight’s episode of ‘Mariah’s World’ gave fans an extended listen at what they should expect this Friday (February 3) when the song is unveiled in full.

I’m one Lamb who is not feeling this. The Donell Jones sample should be played down some, especially since she sings over it. Lyrically, she’s trying too hard to sound like this lesser-talented new school “singers” like Jhene Aiko and comes across as contrite.

I know what you mean.., the thing is that in good voice she can sing all the way through. I think it’s her own perfectionism mixed in with restrictive recording deadlines that has her doing the most to get a solid take when she’s not in the ideal vocal state. It sounds like her vocal chords were dry and thin on the day of recording tbh. But apparently it was recorded over a wknd so it stands to reason that she had to just do the best she could with what she had at the time.
I agree her schedule is crazy. At her age and position, she should take a break from the public eye for some months, keep on taking care of her voice (which I truly think is what she has been doing these last two years in general (last Xmas aside I guess 🙂 ) ) and record new music for an upcoming new album. If that´s what she ahs in mind that is. Maybe she´s not going to release a new album in a long time though. In that case she can keep having this crazy schedule of shows and concerts the whole year.

Anyone saying she’s “lip syncing” in the studio is just dumb. Clearly they recorded the song and then had her go back in and film it in one take so that they could use it for the show. And anyone who’s watched even a single episode of the show can see her singing live on stage in virtually every episode. So please hush…..
I understand that you are fan of Mariah but just admit that she is lip syncing in clip. We all know that her voice has diminish over the years but it doesn’t negate that she is a legend in the game.

It´s not bad but I understand the fans or the people here that also say they are here for Mariah if it is better than this. Like I´ve said many times before, if she is happy releasing what she loves and this is it then fine, cause she has earned it and has nothing to prove. However, if she plans to release an album in teh future and make it somehow successful, she needs to bring something new. In fact, most songs that could possibly bring her a hit, would be easier for her to sing. I always give the example of songs like “Royals”. Would be so easy for her to sing a song like that. And it would be a shocking change, but in the right direction whgen it comes to maisntream. The proof is #Beautiful, her most successful song in the 10s, and the one that felt more different.

The beat is nice, the vocals are to layered which is the problem. When it time to sing the song live she has to lip it…Just go in the studio and give raw vocals in a register you can hit live and we wont have a problem like we did on December 31
