Mariah No Longer Performing At BET Awards

Published: Wednesday 18th Jun 2008 by Sam
Mariah No Longer Performing At BET Awards With the 2008 BET Awards less than week away, it is now being reported that Mariah Carey, who was one of the show’s first announced performers, will no longer be hitting the stage at the June 24th ceremony. Check out the report via Mariah Daily:

An updated list of performers and presenters for the 2008 BET Awards received from this morning did not include Mariah. According to BET, “Since it’s a live show, there are always lots of last minute changes and updates.” We’ll let you know if we hear differently. Mariah is, however, expected to attend the awards proceedings.

It’s anyone’s guess why the performance was cancelled. At the risk of sound ‘a hater’, perhaps it was for the best, as Mariah’s recent performances have left a lot to be desired. Here’s hoping she can get her live performance game up to par once again.

Any thoughts?

I can think of a few things:
Vocal Injury, Vocal Rest, Pregnancy…I don’t know. I would have liked to see her perform Loving You Long Time, but if her voices isn’t up to par, then she can rest. Rest is good, it worked wonders for Jordin Sparks after her vocal injury.
I’m surprised Mariah is even considering touring. She’ll be on Regis next week, but won’t be performing. So, I hope everything’s alright!

I hope everything goes well too. Rest is always good for the soul. But I still think the BET awards would have been a perfect opportuniy to redeem herself. Like Sam said (so true) her performances were not up to par.

She’s already admitted to having nodules for awhile. I think it’s best that she gets some vocal rest.

I just want to see if Usher and Bey gonna perform, screw everyone else

You know what if you look at all those stars that’s performing, I think that’s why BET pull her out. Also another reason is that another female singer(no name)I don’t want to get people angry or anything, was not really supposed to be performing only for the Red Carpet because her music is really not centered as Rnb but Pop music. Does that give ya’ll a hint. But I heard her Defjam record label told BET Sources to add her in the big show. Just what I heard. They know she not great of a singer. I guess they trying to give her alot promotion.

    I’m gonna start some trouble.

She could always lip synch to that pre-recorded track she did at the Asia MTV Awards.

She should just retire for good!
Ageing and boring. She hasnt done any fresh and cool.

    Time to go to Vegas!!

Perform or not perform, her songs couldnt change the fact that E=mc2 is flopping worldwide and bad.

Mariah’s 3rd single ‘I’ll Be Loving You..’ is such a bad single.

yeah, heaven forbid she not hit every note otherwise her performance would be a DISASTER. Heaven forbid her second single not hit #1… otherwise it’s a giant flop. AND HEAVEN FORBID her album not sell 10 millions copies in 2 months. Mariah’s album is STILL Top 20 with a flood of new albums while OTHER artists have fallen out of site.

I have to agree with you sam !
I hate to admit it but mariahs peformances have been really bad lately… what’s happend to her voice !!! even just since the release of the emancipation he voice has just become so, so bad
i hope she sorts it out soon…

Just because she needs vocal rest doesn’t classify E=MC2 as a flop.

It’s hardly that, and doing better than Usher. I don’t get it. If you don’t like her just say it, but at least get your facts straight.

    Her secret is OUT!

She uses a ‘pre-recorded’ technique and she could leave or add her vocal anytime she wants to…!

Maybe BET doesnt allow it…who knows!?

    THANK YOU.

Her performance would’ve been terrible anyway for the BET Awards. Sure her voice might sound amazing (at times) but you can’t really perform IBLYLT and stand in one place and not even rock to the beat. It’s not a hype song but it’s definitely a mover. Compared to the other performances, she would’ve been the one where you go get more nachos. LOL. Had she listened to me and released “I Stay In Love” (IBLYLT should’ve been single #2) it would’ve been cool because you can stand and sing on a ballad. Oh well. Next time Mariah.

WELL SHE IS NO MAJOR LOST,TOUCH MY BODY IS CRAP AND HER LATEST IS NOT OR THAT, THERE ARE MUCH BETTER PERFORMERS ON THE LIST THEN HER.

I AM NO LONGER A FAN OF HERS, WHO GIVES A S**T ABOUT HER AND NICK CANNON TOO

E=MC2 survives (hardly) worldwide thanks to only marketing hype and hardcore fans- the fake weddings, the lip- synching rumors and the whack music that all sounds the same.

Too bad, cause there’s not much better or fresh materials in the album.

“Bye Bye” and “I’ll Be Loving U A Long Time” sound like leftovers from Beyonce or Rihanna.

I doubt Beyonce and Wayne will be performing wiht Usher. Remember he was probably high as hell and he sais SUPPOSE TO BE
