R&B star Ciara tore down the house at Justin Timberlake’s charity concert in Las Vegas over the weekend. Backed by a troop of female dancers, the 23 year old performed hits ‘Love Sex Magic’ (w/ Timberake), ‘Goodies’ and ‘1, 2 Step’. To say she killed it, would be an understatement; she continues to prove why she is one of the best performers (notice I didn’t say ‘singers’) out today. Here’s hoping the sales of her upcoming 4th album (which she is working on exclusively with Tricky Stewart and The-Dream), reflect this. I mean, though not amazing, ‘Fantasy Ride’ deserved to perform better.
Tidbit: As a Janet stan fan, I can’t help but (and I know I’ll get some stick for this) wish she’d give me them ‘WOW’ moments that Ciara has been doing consistently in her videos and performances since ‘Promise’. Come on la Jan, ‘crank it up, give it to me some more, crank it up, give it to me some more’….

Love Ciara. Really. Cute performance too. But Janet created the “Wow” moment. Janet is the one that created the place in the industry for the female “performer”, not “singer”, as you put it. So to say that JJ somehow needs to rise to Ciara’s level of “Wow” is crazy.
Janet is a Coca-Cola Classic. Ciara is a Coke Zero – it’ll do in a pinch but not as good as the real thing.

janet first album can out in 1982 janet was successful on hit shows 10 years before that. all that i already stated is true. and Ciara just was not made that big of an impact, she wont be here sucessful in couple of years. her time run out in 2006. i still like her but she no superstar. it’s like with ginuwine he was supposed to be a massive star, the next MJ but he didn’t have that level of fame. period but it’s ok because there is only one Janet and Michael

Please research ciara she has made a big impact in both white and black music industry. Go look her accomplishments up. That is part why they call her Janet of today. Jackson paved the way for everybody not just ciara.
None of them are powers house. NOr Madonna or britney spears, but their fame is bigger than powerhouses. that is what i mean. so nobody needs to try to play ciara cause she will probably be bigger than some of these powerhouse out now.
Ciara straight up KILLED it! No if’s and’s or but’s about it. As far as Janet goes, she needs to step her game back up. For a little while she was untouchable, but now she cant seem to touch anyone. I love JAnet (I love Ciara more), but her time is up. People fail to realize that the reason Ciara moght not be doing as well as she should is because people keep comparing her to Janet and Beyonce. Each are in their own league so let them be. (Side Note) People criticize Ciara’s vocal ability, but Janet CANT sing. Her back tracks are even horrible. (i.e the VMA tribute to Michael.) She lip syncs every performance. At least Ciara attempts to sing live.
to Daniel Branch: Janet can sing and has a better voice, than ciara, janet’s tone and adlibs and harmoy is on point, her voice is happy, joyful, breezy, she sings a sensual song better than most. they all lip sing, bee, mariah, ciara, it’s all about the performance. belive me janet can sing live, but her dancing is so great, the percision she needs to slay it requires more. i’ve been to fiva janet concerts. After 37 years in the people still wanna front like she cant sing oh well, she sounds like michael alot more than all the pretenders. that in it’s self is a gift.

ciara has done alot to only have been in this game for such a short amount of time, people keep saying how janet did this and ciaras never gonna get to her because ciara does this but fail to understand that when janet came out it was such a different time in music, back then it was ok to lip sing as long as you have a reason, janets reason was because she went all out with her dancing, no shes not a powerhouse but janet has all the elements and all that in one is an full entertainer, ciara is a full entertainer, they both put on gr8 shows and love eachothers works so y keep trying to make the comparisons with them negative, this happends everytime ciara does somthing live and its getting old, ciara will never be janet and she dosent want to be, she wants to be ciara and belive it or not shes here to stay so stop comparing everyone has somthing different to bring to the table so who are we to say no they dont.
While Ciara has a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooong way to go to even approach Janet’s shadow, it IS a shame that her performances lately deserve to accompany a hit record which “Fantasy Ride” wasn’t. As much as I LOVE Janet, Ciara is warming up to become as interesting a performer. Ciara needs stronger music and production.

sorry i can not agree with you on this one. there is only one Janet. Ciara can try to be another Janet but it will never happen. Jant danced s*** but not stripper-ish. Janet could really work the stage. ciara perfornance is good but i know what to expect from her perform ,back bends, splits and gyrating. you can not blame ciara for this comparison because it is the media who is constantly doing this. i just wish that ciara could sing a little better. she trys to make up for not singing while she is perfroming by hopping all over the stage and talking through her songs.
Though I’m sure this will never happen, I’m hoping Rihanna, Keri, Cassie and other can take notes from Ciara.
Keep this up Ciara, and if there are some HOT(like britney hot) songs on your 4th album, you WILL take over!

Ciara is and was always a good dancer like Sam said but singer…? She started out good but was tired by the time she got to her 2nd song. I’m not bashing.I LOVE her music but that was just 3 songs…my question is: How the hell does Beyonce do it for a whole concert??!!! She’s a robot
