New Song: Timbaland & JoJo – ‘Lose Control’

jojo lose control

Having listened through our preview copy of Timbaland‘s ‘Shock Value II’, I was kinda disappointed with the fact that it comes nowhere near the brilliance of the first – lending credence to the age old adage that ‘sequels never top the original’.

That said, the LP’s (hands-down) best cut is served up in the form of the JoJo-assisted ‘Lose Control’. Put simply, stellar production, great vocals, a catchy hook and a surprisingly workable mesh of the pair’s voices, make this one not only a winner, but an obvious choice for the record’s next single. It’d be criminal for this not to be given the release treatment.

I actually like Shock Value II! Sure, it has a more mainstream sound than his previous 2 albums but I still like the album, there are a lot of good songs on it! Yup, JoJo is a guilty pleasure of mine so I love this song! But it’s not the second single, Sam! The second single is ‘Say Something’ featuring Drake!

OK… I agree completely… and honestly… can JOJO’s album come out already?!?!?!? I have had it. The girl is super talented and she deserves to be known for it. PERIOD DOT

The song is really good and JoJo’s vocals are on point. The rest of the album is hit or miss. I hate how he basically abandoned his urban sound for a pop one. I won’t be purchasing the album because I feel like it’s a “sellout” album to try to get more white people into his music and I don’t like that.

Timbaland and JoJo are somewhat of an unexpected combo, but the track delivers. I personally don’t feel it is as good as Sam is claiming it is, but it is alright. Honestly, I’m not sure if this is single material because it doesn’t sound like something that could be on radio. Good attempt, hopefully the album serves up better tracks or else Timbo will be stuck with the Shock Value of a failure.
