Katy Perry has captured to top spot on the US album charts, forcing Fantasia to settle for the #2 position. Perry’s ‘Teenage Dream’ managed to sell over 194k units while her R&B counterpart’s new album, ‘Back To Me’, opened with just 122k copies sold. This marks the 1st time that 1 of Perry’s albums has debuted at #1 in the US.
Another notable entry on this week’s tally was Usher’s ‘Versus’ EP which opened in the #4 position with 48k units sold. Eminem’s ‘Recovery’ album remains in the top 3 selling another 98.7k units. {Source}

Trent called it right! Rihanna was a flop mainly due to the low-down and deceitful way she advertised her CD. With all of the sympathy she had managed to generate because of the BS she spewed on TV, everyone expected her to sell no less than 1/2 a million copies of Rate-Train Wreck the 1st week!
I bought Tasia’s album as well as Dondria’s… LAST WEEK.
I did expect some better numbers for Katy seeing as both of her singles went to the top 10 of the BB Hot 100 & ‘Bittersweet’ didn’t even break top 70.
I’m not surprised that Fantasia didn’t sell better. She got what she deserved for manipulating the public, even if her album is a good one. Go Katy!

Good for both of them. I expected Katy to sell more but this is her first #1 album so it’s definitely something to celebrate. Fantasia did well too. This is her highest charting album and I bet it will remain pretty steady with her reality show and the fact that it has a lot of strong R&B cuts that can destroy urban radio.

Katy actually did a HELL of a lot better than I ever thought she would. I like her, but I’m one of the few people that will actually admit to doing so. That girl gets more hate than any other popular artist out there right now. Really, ever since she came out with “I Kissed A Girl”, I’ve mostly read negative reactions about her. I know her singles do really well, but I thought she was just a singles artist. Oh well, what does it say when an not-even-all-that-popular artist like Katy Perry can score an #1 album, yet Riyodel who’s been in the game more than twice as long and has put out twice as many albums, not to mention isn’t as disliked as much as Katy, has yet to have a #1 album. And Katy has only had 2 #1s so far, so 7 #1s don’t really mean much, do they?

I didn’t know she was disliked. Only recently did I see the dislike for her when she said some ish about Gaga’s video and Gaga stans got EXTREMELY upset which I think may have caused lackluster sales. But that’s all I’ve ever known of as far as a dislike for Katy.
13-year-olds must be out in full force with their parents’ credit cards buying Teenage Dream, because most of the tracks I’ve heard are like a (very unfunny) comedy album. Perry’s lyrics are cheap as a fart joke…perhaps that’s why they had to make the CD booklet candy-scented!
