Former Danity Kane star Aubrey O’Day has been a busy girl as of late. As well as filming her new Oxygen reality show ‘The Aubrey O’ Day Project’, the singer has recorded her new single ‘Automatic’, taking to the stage recently at Cherry Pop to perform the song, as well as old Danity Kane favourite ‘Damaged’.

Check out how she fared after the jump…

Though heavily-backed by a backing track, Ms. O’ Day certainly held her own – reminding us just why she was the centre-piece of Danity Kane for so long. Great choreography, great charisma, and great character. ‘Automatic’ sounds solid too. It’ll sure be interesting to see how her solo project pans out.

    AUBREYYY BAYBAYYY!

  3. Vanessa November 17, 2010

She has more stage presence than Rihanna but still needs to sort out her image

    @Humbleurself I see u homie.

  5. So Me November 17, 2010

This just makes me miss Danity Kane even more. She had great stage presence though. Screw You Diddy for showing Dawn favoritism and ruining what could of been one of the best girl groups

  6. Serena Williams November 17, 2010

Song is pretty generic, but you gotta love that. She was always a GREAT dancer, a solid vocalist (and her live vocals have improved a lot since the DK days) and overall a great performer.

Wish DK would get back together though. Dawn was always the problem. If she is still blanking them and being a b****, then they should just reform without her.

  7. Dave November 17, 2010

Back-tracked, but still slayed 85% of what’s out now as far as vocally & performance wise @ the same time! Work Aubrey!

I’m might be wrong but I’m guessing most of us here are not white. We’re gonna allow Aubrey to be the next big star like a Kardasian or Kesha but were not actively out there tryna support Dawn, Kalenna or even tryna find out what Dwood’s is up to…man they’ll win everytime.

Aubrey will have support from her community, from the black comuunity and from the gay coming (basically covering all markets) and the likes of other talented black artists will be overlooked because we fail to look up to or out for our own. Can’t knock her she’s about her business and does what it takes to remain relevant and we admire her for it. Why do we knock Dawn for liking spotlight (like Aubrey), being about herself (don’t be fool Aubrey does for Aubrey and if it help you too Great) and wanted to make sure that she could carry on doing what she loved once Diddy was over DK (Aubrey did this too).

Diddy messed up! Aubrey gonna stay s***!
Seriously, she hasn’t missed a beat.
She sounds great and looks like she deserve to be an “it” girl in the industry! …
    The new and improved Britney!
I miss D.K. and I wish her and Dawn and Shannon could form their own group.
Still, Aubrey got it and I’ve seen how hard she works. She will get to the top!
    Believe me!

  16. royalkev November 17, 2010

@ Wynter Gordon…, I have to agree with a few things that you’ve mentioned about Dawn. I don’t see why she gets any hate. Diddy put her in a wierd position. Any of those girls would have stuck by him and secured their place with him and his label. I will always support her, because she’s very talented.

  17. Stacey November 17, 2010

Aurbey killed this performance! Like it’s crazy because the image, material, and dancing all work well together. If she’s performing like that on a small stage then you know once she gets on a bigger venue she’s going to kill even more. Automatic is a HIT Record and the reality show is only going to help even more. I wouldn’t be surprised if she had a really big 2011.

  18. letsbeserious November 17, 2010

i hate that all these blogs are saying aubrey was the star in my opinion all of them was would you know aubrey if it wasnt for dk. I think its disrespectful to the other girls saying that aubrey was the star or the leader when she only sung 1 verse in every song if anybody was the star it was dawn and aundrea. Im not hating on aubrey she ight in my book i just think its disrespectful cuz she got attention for being slutty and back talking the boss instead of talent while the other girls stood behind her who actually had talent #teamdawn by the wat

  19. CRAMPED November 17, 2010

I posted it here in one of rihanna post a few days ago.

Not a fan of aubrey but they were good peformances.

Her new show could take her up to kim k. socialite status (which I think she wants desperately) because she surely isnt going to have a sucessful singing career.

Alot of people hate on Dawn but Aubrery is the one with the gigantic ego. She thought she was leader of DK but the breakup brought her back to earth.

  20. ??? November 17, 2010

I really like her performance it was great. Yes like it was said her sound and performance was 1000 better than Rihanna. I mean this woman works. You go Audrey

dawn is on nelly’s new album on a song called k.i.s.s go get it

  22. madison November 17, 2010

werk bish!!!!!!!!! a million times better than KESHA!!!!!!!!!

  23. Wynter Gordan does it better and where D Woods at? November 17, 2010

    @letsbeserious Love you for that.

Lets play a game…and be honest.

Think of your fave songs on both albums…who’s voice do you remember? When they did the live acapella of Damaged who’s voice made you go “wooow” (don’t care if Diddy planned it or not).

If it’s not Andrea and Dawn your clowning yourself.

Dance wise Aubrey did a great job but Brit Brit would eat that ass in a second, doped to the eyeballs, half cocked or pre Federline. Give me Brit from Glee (Beyonces backup dancer) and we can have a conversation but get outta here wit Aubrey the new Brit.
Aubrey’ll be huge but that’ll be because of the Serena Vanderwoodson effect (does messy s*** but alway gets away with it).

  24. Wigs Will be SNATCHED November 17, 2010

All you lessors prepare to get your wigs snatched, Aubrey O’Day is about to start snatching lacefronts left and right. Aubrey>>>>>>>>
Btw GREAT performance. Her dancing/vocals slay.

  25. IKNOWTHETRUTH November 17, 2010

I’M A HUGE DANITY KANE FAN, I THINK THE #1 FAN ANWAY. I WAS ALWAYS A LITTLE BAFFLED AS TO WHY AUBREY WAS MADE TO LOOK LIKE THE MONSTER BUT SHE WAS JUST DOING WHAT NO ONE ELSE WOULD, STAND UP TO SKETCHY ASS DIDDY WHICH IS WHY HE FIRED HER WHEN HE CONFRONTED HER. SHE WASN’T ALWAYS DISRESPECTFUL, I JUST THINK AT TIMES A BIT TOO OPINIONATED. I THINK THAT IF THE REST OF THE GIRLS STOOD UP FOR THEMSELVES THEY MIGHT BE A LITTLE KNOWN TODAY. AUBREY GETS RESPECT FOR ME BECAUSE SHE SAW WHAT PUFF WAS DOING AND TOOK HER CHANCE TO MAKE HERSELF A STAR WHILE IN THE GROUP. SHE HAD TO PREPARE SO THAT SHE COULD HAVE HER NAME STILL KNOWN TODAY AS IT IS. I BELIEVE THAT SHE WILL BE A HOUSEHOLD NAME, PLAYBOY SPREAD OR NOT, SHE’S ONLY GOING TO BE YOUNG ONCE. SHE’S AN ACTRESS, SHE’S A GREAT DANCER, SHE CAN SING, YES SHE CAN SING, BECAUSE I WATCHED ‘WHEN I WAS 17’ SHE BLEW THE HOUSE DOWN WITH HER VOCALS AND SHE HAS A GREAT VOICE. SHE’S NO LADY GAGA, PINK, OR CHRISTINA AGUILER, BUT I DO BELIEVE THAT SHE’LL HAVE HER OWN NAME IN THIS INDUSTRY, AND SHE’LL HAVE IT AND NOT BE JUST ANOTHER JENNIFER LOPEZ TYPE OF SINGER, AUBREY ACTUALLY HAS SOME SKILL. SHE PLAYED THE POSITION THAT PUFF WANTED HER TO PLAY, THE S** KITTEN. THAT EXPLAINS HER VOCALS WHILE IN DK BUT CHECK THE “POETRY” SONG AND YOU’LL SEE THAT SHE CAN SING. SHE’S BACK WITH JOHNNY WRIGHT MANAGING HER, GIL DULDUALO AMAZING CHOREOGRAPHER (“DAMAGED” BY DANITY KANE, “FEEDBACK” BY JANET JACKSON AND MUCH MORE WORK FOR HER) AND MANY OF THE HIT MAKING PRODUCERS THAT WORKED WITH DK ARE WORKING ON HER ALBUM. JOHNNY WRIGHT IS RESPONSIBLE NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK, BACKSTREET BOYS, N’SYNC, JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, JANET JACKSON, AND BRITNEY SPEARS. HE QUIT ON DK VIA TEXT MESSAGE BUT WHO CAN RUN BUSINESS CORRECTLY WITH PUFF RUNNING THE LABEL? I WOULD HAVE QUIT TOO. AS MUCH AS I WANT A DK REUNION, IT’S CLEARLY NOT HAPPENING SO I MUST EMBRACE WHAT’S COMING FROM THE GROUP NOW THAT THEY’VE SPLIT. I WILL ALWAYS MISS THE GROUP AND WANT THEM BACK TOGETHER BUT IF ANYONE HAD A PROMISING SOLO CAREER IT’S HER BECAUSE OF HER HAVING ALL IT TAKES TO BUILD A BRAND. PERSONALITY, LOOKS, IMAGE, AND TALENT. AUNDREA HAS AN AMAZING VOICE AND IS VERY CUTE SO I’D LOVE TO SEE HER MAKE IT BIG AND I KNOW THAT SHE CAN. D. WOODS, WHERE ARE YOU BESIDES THE MIXTAPE CIRCUIT? DAWN, YOU’RE NOW A BACK UP SINGER. I WISH YOU THE BEST OF LUCK. YOU’RE VERY TALENTED BUT IT’S A SHAME THAT HE BROKE UP DK JUST TO MAKE YOU APART OF SOMETHING LIKE THAT DIRTY MONEY B******* THAT HAS YET TO SPAWN A HIT IN THE TOP 10 OF THE BILLBOARD HOT 100 AND THE ALBUM IS DUE IN DECEMBER AND IT’S HAD LIKE FOUR SINGLES ALREADY. SHANNON, I’D LIKE TO SEE YOU DO SOMETHING BUT WITH YOU RARELY SPEAKING UP I DON’T KNOW HOW FAR YOU’LL GO, BUT YOU CAN PERFORM YOUR ASS OFF AND YOU’RE VERY CUTE. AUBREY PLAYED THE GAME AND FANS OF THE OTHERS ARE JUST MAD. DON’T HATE THE PLAYER, HATE PUFF BECAUSE HE SCREWED THE HELL OUT OF EVERY SINGLE MEMBER OF DANITY KANE BUT IT LOOKS LIKE AUBREY BEAT THE BAD BOY CURSE BECAUSE SHE WILL HAVE A CAREER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LIFE AFTER BAD BOY DOES EXSIST (FAITH EVANS DOES NOT COUNT) BTW, SARA STOKES OF DA BAND (REMEMBER HER) WOULD HAVE MADE A PERFECT FIT IN DANITY KANE TO ME. SHE HAD THE LOOK AND THE VOICE. WTF WAS PUFF DOING PUTTING HER IN DA BAND? HE DOES DUMB THINGS ON PURPOSE FOR RATINGS. IT’S NOW BITING HIM IN THE ASS BECAUSE HE’S GOT NO HIT ARTISTS ON HIS LABEL (CASSIE, IMAGE OR NOT IS NOWHERE AFTER COMING OUT LIKE 4 YEARS AGO AND HAVING ONE HIT AND HER SECOND ALBUM HAS HAD LIKE THREE FIRST SINGLES LOL). I LOVE ALL OF THE GIRLS IN DANITY KANE AND WISH THEM ALL THE BEST SO GO AUBREY! HERE’S TO YOU MAKING IT BIG AND I’LL BE WATCHING. YOU’VE GOT THE TEAM (IT TAKES A GREAT TEAM TO MAKE AN ARTIST SHINE, I’LL ALWAYS SAY THAT) YOU’VE GOT THE SHOW, YOU’VE GOT THE IMAGE, YOU’VE GOT THE TALENT, AND MOST OF ALL YOU’VE GOT THE PERSONALITY!!!! BRING ON THE SHOW!!!! I’LL BE WATCHING AND I CAN’T WAIT FOR YOUR ALBUM AND I CAN’T WAIT TO HEAR AND SEE MORE FROM THE REST OF THE GROUP AS WELL. I AM TEAM DK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. IKNOWTHETRUTH November 17, 2010

GREAT PERFORMANCE BTW. NO BACK UP SINGERS = BACKING TRACK (I SEE THAT SHADE) AND OF COURSE WITH DK HAVING FIVE MEMBERS AND ALL FIVE SINGERS SHARING THE LEADS SHE DEFINITELY HELD HER OWN WITH SUCH A VOCAL SHOWING TRACK. I LIKE THE OTHER SONGS AS WELL. I’M GLAD HER ALBUM WON’T BE A SNOOZE AND IT’LL MAKE YOU DANCE. SHE DID GREAT. THIS CHICK KNOWS HOW TO PERFORM.

  27. ~aMaZiNG.Lee~ November 17, 2010

Why does Dawn get all the blame? It was Aubrey who was the problem with a little help from D.Woods. Aubrey was mainly upset because remember she didn’t become the leader of the group like she and everyone else expected. She wasn’t getting any parts on most of their music especially their first album. Not only that but she was the main voice behind the rest of their bitterness concerning Dawn’s ‘thought to be’ solo success when she was doing her side projects with Diddy. Dawn was doing background vocals for not only him but others as well and the group, Aubrey in particular, felt she was solely obligated to the group. But what idiot who’s trying to catipult their career and say ‘oh no I don’t wanna record SOLO without my group members, I don’t make extra money, etc.’

Even Aundrea, stop hanging around Aubrey and they were the closest of all the girls before their first album was released.

I miss DK though! I loved their first album and thought they would last longer than they did.

    Random thought: Dawn> Aundrea> D.Woods> Aubrey> Shannon

  28. Ozzy November 17, 2010

Aubrey is HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 F*** DIDDY! F*** DIRTY PENNIES!!!!!

The Queen is ready to slay :’-(

  29. Ozzy November 17, 2010

Dawn was f****** Diddy, I mean why else is she the ONLY girl left on his label? And then all of those “leaked” solo songs from Dawn didn’t just come out of nowhere, Dawn and Diddy were up to something. Aubrey is the only one with a damn future, she’s always been the biggest star of the group. Now she’s ready to shine even brighter, while Dirty Pennies pushes back “Last Greyhound To Paris.” HA

  30. Thriller Killer November 17, 2010

    chile she gonna flop
If I see one more chick with 2 dancers on the side of them I’m going to scream
    Beyonce has played that out

  31. Mr. GQ November 17, 2010

Da song Automatic sounds hot…….now I just need Shannon and Dawn to take da second verse and Aubrey on the bridge and D. Woods to do the runs LOL

  32. PINK FRIDAY NOV 22ND November 17, 2010

Wow Im pleasantly surprised by how hott she was in that performance.. Much better than what D.Woods is doing right now.. I love that last song she performed.. Giving me Britney circa 04′.. Yeessssss Aubry

  33. what? November 17, 2010

first of all those so called solo tracks was references for dk yall forget dawn is a writer so why wouldnt diddy ask dawn to work on his album if he felt that she was talented.

  34. Blair November 17, 2010

its funny that she picked a background dancer with dawns nose….

  35. ? November 17, 2010

she is talented but im tired of aubrey fans bashing dawn.if your an aubrey fan cool but dont go spreading stuff that you dont know mtv is highly edited and we did not know them so we dont know what happened. (Speaking of that a little side note aubrey was not the only one to fight for dk second album all of them did you can tell that they edited everbumybody else out and plus they showed aundrea fighting for the album). im done with aubrey and her fans they condone sluttiness and they do way to much

  36. ~aMaZiNG.Lee~ November 17, 2010

    @Ozzy

Who knows if Dawn was f****** Diddy? I sure wouldn’t be surprised myself. However, Dawn shouldn’t be the blame for the group’s disbanding. Was her doing s*** on the side a factor? Yes. But was she solely the reason? Hell No!

You can’t say Aubrey wasn’t bitter because of her lack of ‘front woman status’! From the outside looking in, she seemed to be the one with the ego. It’s not a coincidence that she and D.Woods were outcasts.

And she probably would be the chick most likely to become a successful solo artist because she’s WAY more marketable. She has the appeal, the charisma, the attitude, etc. However, she and Shannon had the least vocal ability IMO. Aubrey’s voice is way too breathy and airy for me. She tried to convey s** appeal too much.

    And
LOL @ Last GreyHound to Paris! I’m not sure if they’ll get to the alley let alone getting to Paris. Dirty Money is WACK and I’m almost certain they’ll FLOP! I’ve always said that. Dawn just doesn’t have enough ‘umph’ to be a successful solo artist even though she was my favorite.

  37. dabest November 17, 2010

    @?

Aubrey and D both said they are the reason DK had a second album. DK wasn’t supposed to make it big. THere was going to be no second album, the plan was the dismantle the group and go forward with Dawn as a solo artist. Aub and D fought for a second album and even recruited management because everyone in their “team” quit because of Diddy’s messiness.

I’m happy that Aubrey has a great team to showcase her talents. Johnny may have quit DK but he was the reason they went platinum and got on xtina’s tour.

  38. ? November 17, 2010

dawn will have a successful solo career she has plenty of fans that are still growing that will support her. Sorry she she’s not a loud mouth trying to get attention. She let her talent speak instead of her mouth speaking for her. Dawn will be performing at the ama’s this sunday while aubrey busy trying to “stand out.”

  39. ? November 17, 2010

@dabest that dont even make since. That was rumors that they was gonna split and they said themselves they was trying to find new management to manage them diddy had nothing to do with it. And dawn wasnt trying to go solo those was rumors also.

  41. dabest November 17, 2010

    @?

It makes perfect sense. Dawn was meant to be Diddy’s solo project for a long time. Looks like it’s worked out well for her judging by Dirty Money’s success. And who cares if she is performing at the AMA’s. She is basically a back up dancer and they gonna perform a track that is almost a year old because they STILL trying to release that album 2 yrs later. There is no interest in the project.

  42. ~aMaZiNG.Lee~ November 17, 2010

True. While I don’t think Dawn could be a successful solo artist, I would still support her. However, being in that flop ass group is not the business. LOL! And pretty much anything Diddy affiliated that isn’t named Notorious B.I.G., is doomed from the start! If she has any chance, she should get away from Diddy!

  43. ? November 17, 2010

so what if she is a “background singer” which she not ppl only saying that because of hello good morning which was the song that made them mainstream but she and kalenna r singing on every song and is getting global esposure getting ppl familiar with thier face. And their are millions of ppl believe it or not who is waiting for it. Thier is not secret that dirty money is a one time thing they both go solo after. And no it was not the plan for dawn to go solo aubrey is saying what ppl wispered in her ear about not knowing the facts. Hate all you want and state false information all you want dawn will be successful and i hope all of them will be as well so 12-14-10 get on or keep your hatin selfs off

    Write for Life

In last night’s sixth season finale of Making the Band, I, like the many other millions of viewers, sat in a appalled awe as we first handedly witness the dismantle of Diddy’s crowned jewels Danity Kane, as he angrily decided to terminate Aubrey O’Day’s position in the group. Well, the conversation at hand seemed to be about the lack of trust and the business obligations that each one of the women had with the group, but things seemed to run deeper than just dissatisfaction. It emitted an unhidden jealously that lied within four of the five girls, creating more of a vulnerable and personal situation sparked by the discussion. But, just when you thought that Diddy’s eyes were targeting Aundrea Fimbres for disposal, he recoils like a snake, and starts to distinctively pick on the remaining members of the group, as if they were his prey, backed up into the corner. So, who was next? At first, when I saw that shy looker Shannon Bex started to slowly arise out of her usual shell and pose a question about the group, Diddy was about to terminate her contract for not being her usual self; the one who obediently keeps quiet and nonchalantly lets the drama unveil itself, the one who lives to see the spotlight get shone on her another day. He turned away and got on Wanita “D. Woods” for her dissatisfaction with the business priorities with the group. Without hesitance, he directed her to leave with her partner in crime, Aubrey. D. Woods humbled herself at that moment, thanked Mr. Combs for the opportunity that was given, and reassured that she hoped that the business of the group (and between the label) was to be corrected amongst the quintet. This subsequently, has shaved the quintet down to a trio: Aundrea, Shannon and Dawn. Is this déjà vu America’s music market is experiencing because this situation is dangerously close to Destiny’s Child and 3LW (now known as the Cheetah Girls). The only difference is the label wasn’t in control and it was a mutual group decision about who was to depart from the group.

I, on occasions, check out the fansites, the bloggers, and the gossip magazines to keep up with the current events of what’s happening with who and what. And it appeared that after Danity Kane’s major debut (from 2006 to mid 2007) with only then, two singles under their belt, there lied a gloomy period where we didn’t hear from them. This gave bloggers and gossip columnist a reason to stir up rumors of accusations that the fresh group has disbanded because of an uncertainty that lied amid the members of the group’s next career progression. I also looked into each of the girls backgrounds by googling each of them, and as it turns out, a few of the girls have formed associations with local groups or have tried to attempt solo careers prior being the chosen one’s for Danity Kane. DK’s bad girl Aubrey had her eyes set on musical productions, as she starred in the leading lady roles such as The Wizard of Oz, Fame, Grease and basket full of other famous Broadway productions. Shannon started off (originally) as a dancer, as she trained in multiple styles from the age of three. In high school, she became more of a seasoned entertainer as she enhanced her ability of singing and acting under her belt. At the age of nineteen, she learned how to be a team player by performing for five consecutive seasons as a Portland Trial Blazers cheerleader. She then went on the 2003 reality series called Fame (which is now called America’s Got Talent), wherein she placed runner-up. Luckily and ironically, Johnny Wright, who has ties with Making the Band, said he would sign her in Fame’s season finale. Hence, this saved her a guaranteed place within Diddy’s super group. Dawn seemed to be like a typical case of the [Ashanti] Douglas’s family: her father was a former musician of a popular band from the seventies and her mother owned a dancing school and was a choreographer. Thus, the two created a fabrication of a daughter who was born to entertain. Aside from music, Dawn spent her early years as a t*** as a top-notch student, toning her love for music and dance in her spare time. She formed a local New Orleans group called Reality, and then left to pursue a solo career under the (given half of first and middle) name Dawn Angeliqué. In 2005, Dawn released a solo album on iTunes entitled Been a While. Although it officially didn’t have any releases and didn’t chart nationally on the Hot Billboard 100, it was still good enough to secure her a spot as the opening act for R&B crooner Anthony Hamilton. Dawn didn’t stop there, though; she continued to strengthen her dancing skills by becoming a cheerleader dancer for the NBA’s New Orleans Hornets while attending a college university. Aundrea began singing from an early age and during her high school years, she joined a pop group called Intrigue. Before auditioning for Diddy, she walked away from her back up plan of becoming a teacher, giving her all into the competition. Wanita “D. Woods.” Woodgette has been singing and dancing ever since she could remember and has been associated with another group that call themselves the Girl’s Club, which is made up of different components of the entertainment industry. Although their history is similar, it’s clear to see that all five of the young women were headed down different paths. And the contrasts overrules the comparisons when it comes to the group because these women knew nothing of each other, just only a dream links their spirits together… to make music.

Now, it’s time to switch back to the breakup of the group… now, you know gotta admit that deep down inside, you knew Aubrey had it coming. The signs of it all were there: her verbal fallouts with Diddy caused by the way she represents herself, and not only herself, but her group members as well. So, I wasn’t really surprised, but it did hurt to see her go. I’m gonna miss her, though; the way she seductively entices her audience with her mix of bump and grind moves, the way she used to create her own lark voyages within the group, and don’t forget the reason why was signed to Bad Boy, her overall talent. For a white girl, she can sing, with that sultry soprano voice of hers, keeps the ear longing for more… We honestly all know that Aubrey has been alleged as the bad girl of the group, due to her ability of speaking freely of whatever comes to her mind. And that’s not excluding the way she appeals to everyone in regards to her own personal appearance, as Diddy said in a previous episode “pushin’ yo’ own image.” What more can you say? She’s seen as a s** kitten, and hell, not even that! She’s the tiger who pounces on her prey! From my own eyes, I see Aubrey as the rebel of the group. But, I don’t think she’s so rebellious to where it’s damaging to the group’s reputation. I think she’s the one in the group that represents s** appeal. She’s daring in her own right, with a personality that sells itself for days. Hell, they say that Rihanna’s this year’s new “it” girl. And for a minute, you have go beyond the exterior to see what’s the fusion that produces someone to become so appealing to where we consider them badass. It’s the risk of courageous when you act on purely on instinct, when you don’t care about critic, when you force an audience to put up with what you have to declare. Aubrey is rebellious to where she gives a free rein to her inner demons (as the so-called “wild child” of the group) as she weighs her desire to expose herself. She’s the girl in the group that hasn’t been masquerading herself to an audience and stands up for what she believes, but yet, it’s this strength of hers that has caused her ultimate downfall. She does have a big mouth. And she has to learn that it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it. It’s not about being real, but it’s about respect. Like Diddy said, “you don’t wanna put yourself in a situation where you’ll be yourself in the kickin’ ass 10 years from now watchin’ the VMAS, wishin’ you coulda been…” He’s your boss, fool! Ain’t no way in hell will I ever over-talk to my boss and the fate of my career lies within his hands. But, some people rather have the last word… So, what ultimately led to the disband of Danity Kane?

I say that the reasons why the demise of Danity Kane occurred was because: (1) of a mount of hidden jealous and confusion was buried due to Diddy’s fondness of Dawn talent. After all, she does have that “special” voice. It was speculated that Dawn would be perhaps taken out of the group to launch a solo career at Bad Boy. And as of earlier of this year, the web leaked several tracks that were supposed to be promos for Danity Kane but only featured Dawn’s vocals on the song. An Atlantic Records spokesperson responded to the rumor with this statement: “At no point was Dawn flown anywhere to record solo or meet alone with Diddy. The girls are still very much together. They’re going out to the Video Music Awards together… and they’re promoting their album ‘Welcome to the Dollhouse’ and working on their third.” (2) Aubrey’s new appearance and persona also inspired the frustration Diddy has had with her. I feel as if Puff wanted to keep creative and personal control over the group by playing a more proactive role within their careers, so nothing like what happened to B.I.G happens to his other artist. Consequently, he kept his artist on a tight leash and the vision of what he had for the group, had changed, creating frustration and tension. Aubrey had become a problem within the group due to her forgoing promotional appearances with the group to appear as Amber Von Tussle on Broadway’s Hairspray. Diddy didn’t like her image and felt as if Aubrey was trying to expand her fame at the expense of the entire group and he wanted everyone on the same page. (3) the cliques within the group. Aundrea and Aubrey were the only two that was in the competition for a total of 2 years. This created a strong connection between the two of them and at the end of season 3 finale, the two ladies dubbed each other “best friends forever.” The friendship, however, later became distant and appeared to the world as if the two were almost avoiding one another. Whatever the underlining problem was, it has not been corrected between the two. Aubrey soon created a connection with D. Woods. And as seen in previous episodes, the two girls party it up and have comedic moments of joy together. Meanwhile, Aundrea connected with Shannon who, like herself, is more introverted and enjoys more of a downtime, opposite of Ebony and Ivory, and while Dawn was a guy’s girl. (4) the lack of unity the ladies had with one of another as group. Instead of furthering the group‘s musical plateau, some of the members decided to venture out and participate in solo activities to strengthen their own brand.

Ultimately, the imperative reasons that led to the dismantle of the group is because a lack of communication between Danity Kane and their label, Bad Boy/Atlantic in addition to incisive and constant rumors. It’s really unfortunate to see something like this happen to a promising talent due to problems of irrelevance sparked by informative gossip blogs, entertainment journalist and columns with negative information coming from both inside and outside the camps. In my opinion, there is no group with the remaining members standing, and I couldn’t even imagine how they would sound without Ebony and Ivory. Whatever the case may be, I’ll continue to support each individual member “in their own special way.”

Is she even permitted to perform any verses of DK songs than her own??? (i.e. singing Shannon’s first verse)….. cuz i know when Beyonce, Kelly or any of the other DC girls sing old DC material live, they only sing their solo parts and group vocals and i heard it was cuz of legalities and whatnot…… hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm??

aww. can’t wait. loved her wild-ass since the beginning. may God Bless her career. she deserves it. =D she’s such a great spirit!

  52. Marcinis November 17, 2010

Sorry, but Aubrey is the only one out of all those girls who have the star power to be solo. She has everything a successful artist needs. An image, an amazing voice, and the ability to entertain in every aspect of the word. And for the ignorant person above who made some comment about black artists being overlooked because they’re not being supported – well that’s their business. And I’m black myself. Talent is talent, regardless of race or color. That has absolutely nothing to do with it. Aubrey has an amazing voice, and she has PERSONALITY. She will be successful because she is someone who has what it takes. Not because she’s white. And hell, if anything, she’s more black than the black artists out today! Lol. I love Danity Kane collectively, and they are without a doubt, one of the best female groups of all time – in just their short period if time, they’ve earned that, but don’t think for one fragment of a second that they could have been anything they are without Aubrey. She was booted from the group and what happened? Slowly, but surely, the group fell apart. Aubrey WAS Danity Kane. And now it’s her time to be AUBREY. She’s going to take us for a ride, and I’m on board. First class.

MISS DANITY KANE! Aubrey, isn’t that bad. I like the little plastic look

  54. Cheekygrl November 17, 2010

@WynterGordan every artist is a unique individual which appeals to their fan base or audience hence this is the “Aubrey O’day Project” but i wanna play your Game so here we go.

Britney from disney a made up character that had the stage handed to her via handlers etc from a young age so much publicity it’s really not fair to compare seeing how Brey was X’d out of DK for money but ok cause FACT if this was a contest… Aubrey would kill Britney.. if Britney could sing vocals while dancing it might be a competition, but she cant do both, she lip syncs… great music, great song writers… great videos and if you’re into performers dancing live while they lip sync at a concert then hey Brit is your girl. If your gonna compare her to someone let’s go with Bey. she dances her ass off and sings… best concerts ever and she has stage presence. Now Brey’s just getting started solo dolo and i’d put all my money on her to win she got the voice she was held down only allowed on certain s*** on purpose. if you ask me you shine to bright become that star and you don’t need that handler no more and then Diddy out that money… oh yeah she’s business smart so she had that on point. he couldn’t use her the way he wanted to. She’s a killer whale blowing like a mafucka! insecurities, young and only being allowed to sing on certain tracks hid that… now lets talk about stage presence it’s all about emotion, you are the song and dance it becomes you and if she works that ish and she own’s it like Bill Gates owns Microsoft… the world’s hers and you’re just living in it. and again this is only if she wants it cause the girl has a whole lot more going on for herself then just music. she’s so talented it’s sick she could change her name to Aubrey Entrepreneur O’Day
I still can’t believe someone compared her to Britney wow well everyone has their own musical tastes i guess you get so caught up in the dancing you forget she’s suppose to be singing also, lol whoever said she was the next Brit tho you right get outta here with that cause its an insult to Brey. Mos Def.

oh and one last thing you’re not gonna allow her to be the next big thing that’s hard work day in and day out along with dedication and talent. it has nothing to do with anyone allowing it… if people like it, love it, want it, they gonna support it cause they being entertained the way they want to be. and as far as supporting D.Woods or any of the other artists you mentioned they walked thru the same damn door that was opened, opportunity knocks you answer how you wanna answer.

  55. Jevon Goldson November 17, 2010

great voice, great stage presence, great dancer, its just all the makings of a great performer, she did a good job!!

  59. antertain November 17, 2010

She was serving up a can of hotness.

    4got how good she moves.
    Solid pop track.

Lip-sync aside she did an excellent job as she was dancing her life away.

    Aubrey aka Aubrella is bacccck!!

  60. Wynter Gordan does it better and where D Woods at? November 17, 2010

So it’s safe to say everyone is happy for DK to be over so long as it’s Aubrey who has her solo career poppin off but if Dawn has a career DK needs to be back together….

Aubrey will be a smash hit and will probably give the other 3 DK girls a hand up and throw as much shade Dawn’s way as the network and media will allow her. At some point she’ll be so big she’ll eventually forget about Dawn and become the star she (in all her industry standard appropriateness) was born to be.

So this time next year Aubrey will be everywhere lets just hope the other four will be allowed to have happy lives somewhere without having Aubrey fans come with “Dawn, DWoods, Aundrea and Shannon who?”

  61. Ozzy November 17, 2010

AUBREY TWEETED THIS! YAYYYY! Love yoouuuuu Aubs!!!!!

  62. wynter gordon needs keeping up with times instead of the Kardashians November 18, 2010

Yo Wynter you should do sum research before you judge, she don’t Eva thro shade no ones way, and her and Drea just did a song together.. she has also done one with DWOODS sister for the fans. DK is over it is what it is and people are gonna do what they wanna do. Aubrey can’t control everyone else’s destiny she ain’t Diddy

Please No Hating She In The Right Path And We Need To Accept That. But My Question Is Why Is She Blamed For Dk’s Break Up, And Noone Currently Speaks To Dawn. Not Even Shannon nor Aundrea, Something is A Little Crazy Thier. I Know Shannon, D.Woods, Aundrea, And Aubrey Are Going To Do Big Things. And We’ll Just Hope For A DK Reunion And or 2 Or 4 Of THEM COME TOGHTER FOR A SONG. P.S. SHE’S GROWN ALOT n NOT EVERYONE CAN TAKE GETTING FIRED FROM SOMETHING YOU ACTUALLY LOVE DOING. IF ANYTHING WE SHOULD GET HER ALBUM AND SINGLES SHOW DK SOME LOVE…
    I AM… DINSYZ

  65. oh dear November 19, 2010

Aundrea and Aubrey have done a song together called “Ego Trip.” She played it on KKUU 92.7 in Cali, and she’ll be performing it with Aundrea on December 4th at a concert sponsored by the radio station.

  66. trent November 20, 2010

@DannyB! Destinys Child is a high profile group! So to keep down on drama they just perform there own verses. so the comparrisons wont come flying out! And they performd there own simply for time reasons…

Danity kane is another story! She can perform whatever she has rights to it! And Aubreys team would make sure everything is Ok legally before a performance…Im sure they wouldnt want a lawsuit!

This will give a cleaner monitoring of the sound and allow the person doing the sound design to
have a better conception of the audio mix. Expect to spend at the least $10,000 when you
choose brand new low-end cabinetry, counters,
appliances, flooring, paint, and a few minimal
structural alterations. Next most people like to remodel
their kitchens and get the new modular kitchens installed.
