People who hate her music have been converted into fans solely on the strength of her live performances.
But what would she have done in the era where the only way you could see someone perform live for free is one some late night show or an awards ceremony? Which would mean, only once in a while?
I love her music (pre-BTW, that is), but then again I like pop music. My introduction to her wasn’t through a live performance, but through her video for Just Dance. That alone made me a fan. However, a LOT of people wrote her off as just another talentless pop act until her acoustic renditions of her songs made their way onto YouTube, and that’s when people started respecting this chick.
But let’s be honest, if it wasn’t for the easy access to her live performances, she would have a much harder time proving her worth based solely on her music as it is. Which is why she should make music that’s on the level of her talent if she wants to be seen as more than a gimmick. She has an amazing voice, is a great performer and possesses wicked piano skills, but what are those talents worth if the music won’t back it up?

She should do it you know, just take the piano and be true to herself. Gimmicks are certainly used by most singers out there but I think she’s taking them way too far.
Somehow I don’t blame her, she stated in one interview how much she loves being part of the pop culture, but I thought all singers/musicians wanted to be recognized for being …. well.. you know, great singers/musicians.
Some people are getting tired of her costumes, gimmicks & yada yada, that’s true. But I wonder if she still would get all this attention if she were only a piano & her music alone. Would she still be as popular as she is now? Would she get all the attention she’s getting from everywhere, even the Catholic church?
Why not being a wonderful and out-of-gimmicks singer such as Adele for example? So many questions and no answers….
