All Britney has ever done throughout her ENTIRE career is lip-sync to lame-ass dance moves. To say that Bey is ahead of her both as a singer and performer is a massive understatement. You don’t need to be a fan of Bey to objectively see that. So no, Britney has definitely NOT given more in that area or any other.
And Rihanna’s Rated R is indeed a very good album, and it’s just opinion that it’s better than anything that Bey has ever done. One I can respect, though. But can you REALLY say she’s given more to music than Bey? Especially when she can’t bring it in the area of live performances? Because her music isn’t terribly consistent, and she’s not groundbreaking, complex or original, either.
If Rihanna and Britney are the best you can summon as artists who give more to music than Beyoncé, then you pretty much failed this argument.

I voted for waiting for the whole song to make a judgement, but I think it is actually pretty good(now relistening to it), I love the drums which gives it an Afro-centric sound which makes it distinct from the Euro-pop sound that’s out there on radio today. I pretty much love when she vocally ride beats. It’s her lane and she does it well. And you can tell that the beat was going to change into something else so hearing that snippet whet my appetite a bit even though those who genuinely didn’t like the snippet and aren’t saying things to create stanwars, I respect that.
Secondly, most non fans aren’t going to like it, I don’t rely on their viewpoint, I rely on my ears and not to mention, Bey will not please you. You say that Bey don’t sing about anything substantive and then criticize her for making songs about female empowerment(which is not all she sings about) which let’s face it, more women(you know the demographics that usually buy the music need to hear). That’s not substantive? At least she’s not singing about 3-somes, masochism, butterflies, dragons and fairies. I(being a man) will listen to female empowerment songs all day, especially coming from her because that’s her niche and she LIVES IT. She has the kind of control of her art and brand than most mainstream female entertainers wish they could have. And if Bey was to make songs about “political and social commentaries” you wouldn’t believe that from her and say that she’s trying too hard.
Oh I get it, because it’s a dance track and like someone said, she needs to calm down and do a jazz album. I personally would love for her to do a fully jazz album but truthfully I believe that numerous fanbases are shook because Bey is truly THE ONLY Mainstream artist that can do dance music, set herself apart and add something to the track vocally without needing auto-tune and to say she shouldn’t do dance music because she’s 30. When is 30 old? I know some of you are teens but really. I am in my 30s and I can appreciate a good uptempo as well as ballads and mids.
And I hear another snippet and what I am hearing, I like a lot. I want to hear the whole thing, but the couple other snippets I hear….real nice, Bey. Real nice.

I completely understand, and I hate when my fellow Bey supporters go in on others for having an opinion. I’m just trying to understand how you could say her music lacks substance. You Stan for Chris like me right? Does his music lack substance? I love Chris’s music and he has so many beautiful songs with depth, but Bey has more meaningful music. Also, she’s not trying to compete with Gaga and make music like her. Did you see her interview where she talked about the musical direction if the album? I expect more from her because I know she can give more, and I want her to make that album that will be a classic, that will really showcase what she can do. I got hyped up over GaGa because of what she promised me, not because of what I expected from her. And she failed to deliver on the first round. Now I know her album will not come even come close to being the album of the decade that she swore it would be, and I accept that. This is one song though. Did you know that if you counted up every solo Beyonce song, there’s more ballads than “booty shaking” uptempos? When I think of these artists, I wouldn’t ever try to compare Beyonce to them. She is doing something completely different in her work, as the artists that you mention are doing completely different things in the their work between them.
If you think Beyonce lacks substance, fine. I happen to believe that “Scared of Lonely” (My favorite Beyonce song), “That’s Why You’re Beautiful,” “Smash Into You,” and “Disappear” are songs with plenty of substance.

DIL was immature & simplistic at times, B’Day lacked substance, I Am… had poor single releases. As for this song; The melody is different, and there is drum action but her harmonies…beautiful(the third part of the snippet because the snippet is in three parts). Emphasizes the lower register a bit more than she normal does along with her normal voice. Interesting. Her voice also skips too and I think that’s part of the hook, I am sure Diplo and Bey arranged that. (I will put there out ther) in another part of the song. But with all of that is like a 26 sec snippet in 3 parts. No one has leaked the whole song yet and her stan base is doing everything to make sure that it don’t happen. I will say that. EXACTLY. I hate to say this, as I might risk sounding like anything but a fan, but her songs do tend to be a bit samey. That was a flaw I realized when I listened to the “I Am…” side of IASF. When I listened to the CD all the way through for the first time, and really, without meaning to throw any shade at her, I felt like I was listening to the longest song ever. I disliked the uptempo side for its inconsistency, so I ended up disliking that album for quite a while. It wasn’t until I saw the live performances of the songs that I went back and re-listened to the record, and saw that individually, the songs on the “I… Am” CD are actually really good. The problem though, is that all those songs together on one album just sound like copies of each other.
I revisited DIL, and saw that it’s not the great album that I once always thought it was, mainly for the lyrics. B’Day took chances musically, but lyrically, not much either. However, I classify that album as just a fun, loose record, so the lack of lyrical brilliance doesn’t bother me in that instance. But yes, get songs mostly revolve around those three themes: relationships, female empowerment and club bangers. I just wish she would tell her stories in more different and unique ways, though. I’m not asking her to start singing songs about slaying dragons or anything, lol.

Now as FOR ME, because I focus more on the sonic aspect of songs than the lyric content(jazz cultivated that for me) so I prefer the I am CD over the Sasha Fierce CD because as you said, consistency and cohesiveness wasn’t as strong as it could have been(see, I can criticize Bey. LOL). Not the way it was for B’day. But no, she’s not the most varied when it comes to lyrics. But my fandom always come from her vocal arrangements. Just listen to a song without Bey’s voice and it lacks even if it’s the best production but listen to her songs with just her voice and there is a lot going on in there.
But yeah, if she wants to go to the next level, variation of lyrics could help. If that’s the lack of depth some are saying, then ok, I can concede THAT.

I am not worried about Bey musically. I think she has something to prove, and I think the Fela African Queen really did inspire her. So I think we are going to get great stuff from a fan pov. And the one thing that I think some miss is that so many numerous producers was either sending work to her or working with her. I love what I’ve heard so far. I needed something with edge and passion. From just listening to this short snippet I’ve already been able to hear more of that than a lot of 4 minute songs released by major artist in the last few months.
If I didn’t know what being pressed, MAD or UPSET was I would only have to glance at most of the hater’s comments in this post. I always feel like so many stans from other so called “divas” watch Bey movements , moreso than your own favs! She has unbelievably high expectations to meet from ya’ll when your favs don’t even have to meet a quarter of them. Then because she’s pretty talented in so many different area(singing abilities, dancing wise,etc) the main attack is who she’s copying. There is so much resentment that it’s a shame. The same accusations are being made and it’s lame and old now. There are plenty of artist that are way more obvious in their music and artistic style that people don’t call out (Gaga =Madonna clone, Ciara = Janet clone, BTW = EY). It seems like Bey can never get the credit she deserves(even after 14 years of hits). It’s amazing how it seems like people that lack creativity get to earn some points just for surviving in this industry for 5 years in this new music world where everyone is mediocre, pumping out generic music and material that sounds like 10 other artist. To me, it’s been one looooong song… The “Only girl”, in the world is a “Firework”, because she was “BTW” and she will “Blow”, “On the floor”, “Til the world ends”! … Is this just for balance? It’s desperate how some people are becoming divas – it’s almost done out of pity.
To those speaking on Bey copying all these artist… how do you even get all of that from a few pics without understanding the concept of the video? It’s really pathetic to assume 100 things from something that hasn’t been released yet! It shows what your intentions are! Rihanna for the first half of her career starting out imitating Bey and then fiding an identity (however, still resorting to drastically changing her image to fit in has been ignored completely- she went from being the black and more rebellious Pink – to the girl next door now). These things get tossed out the window because people feel like they have to make her out to be something now because of her #1 singles! It’s like a struggle is being made to make some of these artist appear to be heavyweights that don’t have talent!
They still have certain critiques that stick with them on the negative end, but there is all this hype and everyone is a pricess/Queen after 5 years. So, people won’t totally bash artist that deserve it because the have #1’s or sell albums(even if 10 things about the artist suck). It’s the same the other way. You can’t praise someone too much, because it makes them too perfect. Bey can be the singer,but we must always hear that Ciara dances better. True… but how many artist do both as well as her? … When you go there, your stanning too hard and being a blind stan(instead of EVER being one that just objectively have an opinion). You have to see some good and some bad with everyone. I’m sorry – there are some artist that have plenty of bad! … Bey has a lot of good! Period! … We just have to have that Balance thing again. Bey stans make her out to be a God! It’s just the truth people!
So with Bey, I guess we need to find that 1 thing to criticize(no matter what she does). To you guys She’s ALWAYS biting and that because it’s going to be the one thing ya’ll been trying to build a case on since ’03. She wears a certain shoe – she’s being like Jlo.
