Nelly Furtado Shows Her ‘Big Hoops’ To Alan Carr

Published: Saturday 19th May 2012 by Sam

Tomorrow night’s Billboard Music Awards may bring with it the first US performance of Nelly Furtado‘s ‘Big Hoops (Bigger The Better)’, yet the ecelectic singer treated fans in the UK to the first televised showing of the comeback cut.

Taking front, stage, centre on Channel 4’s Alan Carr Chatty Man last night, Furtado rocked the house. Peep her performance after the jump…

Still not wholly “sold” on the song (nor its uber-nasal delivery). Still, the production alone and her adamant non-conformity ensure that we’re remain amped for her new LP ‘The Spirit Indestructible’ – which arrives on September 11th.

Your thoughts?

I watched the performance earlier and I thought it was cool. I love Nelly as a recording artist, but not so much as a performer tbh. While this performance was far better than her ‘Loose’ era promo, I can’t help but think she could at least attempt a 2-step, given that the principal element of the song is the beat. And she did sound nasal, but she’s a great vocalist, so I think the next single will sound better.

Anyway, I hope she slays at the BBMA’s. She’s one of the very few performers I’m checking for 🙂

Listen to Afrodisiac by Teni! She’s the new Sade! She’s from Africa! Time for a third world superstar! Follow her @teniofficial

Poor Nelly 🙁 She seems so uncomfortable! Not strange since the song is horrible compared to her previous music! The new album will most likely also flop based on the producers she has worked with. I´m not a hater, I actually love “Loose”, one of my favorite albums. Nelly has to realise that it´s best to scrap the whole album and go back in the studio with Timbaland.

Good performance and there is nothing wrong with this song..US Pop radio is the problem…they SUCK and R Killing Great Pop Music…..

    Why all the negativity?

@ 250MG She doesn’t need to go back to Timbaland because he hasn’t produced a half decent song since 2008. Salaam Remi, Darkchild and The Demolition Crew are good producers, so wait until her album is released to form an opinion. 😎

@ YEYAY US pop radio is not the probelm because they’re giving her enough airplay. She came back after 5 years of absence and this is her first promotional performance, did you expect the song to skyrocket into the top 20? It will rise 🙂
