Last week, Ciara‘s ever loyal ‘C-Squad’ welcomed the leak of ‘Overdose’, a jam recorded for the stars upcoming ‘One Woman Army’ album.
However, much to the dismay of her supports, the cut is yet to be placed on iTunes– despite marking one of the singer’s better received releases.
So well received, Epic executive LA Reid took to Twitter to address its surfacing hours later, asking fans to share their thoughts on its sound.

Anyway, ‘BI’ was a commercial failure because her videos were not played on any channel worldwide and her songs were not playlisted on radio because of Jive sabotaging her. She can do better with the right team imo.

I would. The sound is good for radio and that’s what she needs right now, just focusing on getting her foot back in the door. She should release this to mainstream pop station then come out with a banging urban single to release to the urban market and promote both simultaneously.
I would most definitely buy it, the song suggests that Ciara is on the right track.. People need to stop knocking her. Her past blunders have been because of album leaks, poor promotion and wrong single choices. With the right singles and PROPER promotion she’d be successful again.
I don’t think I would buy the song, because I usually buy albums instead of singles anyway, but tbh I don’t think the song is that good. Maybe it’s a grower, though and objectively it’s the most radio friendly song she’s come up with since ‘Like A Boy’. They could give it a shot I suppose. It’s great for the summer and I think it would do quite well on rhythmic and pop radio as long as they release something HOT for urban radio simultaneously
I think that it is much to early to know what direction this project is truly heading in and what the overall or dominate sound will be. Ciara definitely has the voice for Pop music and Overdose is a nice song although it does give off Britney vibes circa her “Circus” or “Femme Fetale” eras. I would need to hear more from the album and probably snippets from the entire body of work before saying “yes” to investing my money in something from Ciara.

At this point as much I love me some CiCi she needs a new team. She’s talented and has potential but your team is not supportive like they should be. Look at Beyonce’s team or even Briteny’s when they come with a new release it’s swift and on point the single drops like 2 months before the album, the video drops like 6 weeks to the album and the albums is released on time. Both “Sweat” and this song, “Overdose” are good songs. Why are the label stalling? This isn’t good. Money may be tight but when confidence is in a project, i.e. a month of it circulating, a good video and promotional appearances people will get into it. Ciara has almost exactly what Chris Brown does so she can keep a crowd entertained. Instead she’s releasing a few songs which aren’t going to do the album any justice as she’ll have to release at least 2 more officially before she drops the album which will be probably 11 tracks. By then we would have heard 1/2 the songs on it and it will kill the project! Do what the greats do, 1 or 2 singles, a great video then drop the album!
I disagree, they need to take as much time as they need to ensure Ciara has a solid and successful album. They’re just testing to see which direction and sound Ciara should explore this time around that’ll get people re-interested in her music. Ciara’s career is in a delicate state and rushing just to have something new out wouldn’t be wise. She’s gotta come back stronger than ever this time and the sound has to be on point and match the Ciara they’re trying to market. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind waiting until 2013 for her official single and album. This is her third shot, she’s very lucky to even had a second in this industry….

I don’t buy singles, but I liked Overdose. I ain’t a huge fan of dance songs, but I like this song. It isn’t overproduced like the others dance songs. The beat is great, it’s actually very urban. And to top it off, finally, Ciara is singing! I’m happy that she stopped whispering on her records.

I don’t buy singles but I will buy it if it was released just to show support. Its a solid pop track, not too basic but not over done and mind blowing. It could be a hit if it received the right treatment, something Ciara’s team has always struggled with. And Ciara desperately needs a hit.
