Alicia Keys has taken the literal approach to the video for new single ‘Blended Family (What You Do For Love).’
Unleashed moments ago, the clip for the A$AP Rocky assisted cut sees the 15-time Grammy winner unite her own unique clan. Indeed, featured is her husband Swizz Beatz, their children (including his from previous relationships), and Mashonda.
The latter is most likely to set tongues wagging, given the much publisized history between the ‘Blackout’ singer, Swizz, and Keys.
Watch below as they collectively celebrate dissolved differences in the second video from the ‘HERE’ album…
Cute, but we’re kinda miffed at the approach. Why wasn’t this released ahead of the LP? Note that ‘In Common’ – which was relegated to a bonus track – was the only traditional visual Alicia had in the marketplace upon release of ‘HERE’ last Friday. Those other mini–movies did not make enough of a splash to be considered substitutes.
We’re not fans of “shoulda, woulda, coulda’s” but it would – especially with the Mashonda cameo – have been a talking piece she could have spun into sales of some sort.
Beyond the arguable missed opportunity of that, we live in the streaming age – something 2016 has made clear in earnest. Acts, particularly those in commercial need, can’t afford to not be “playing the game.”
In any case, enough of our ranting…
I like Alicia as an artist but I thought this song was really tacky.
LOL But haters will keep saying Alicia doesn´t deserve to sell cause she “broke a marriage” (as if that were any of their business to begin with even if it were true). No wonder why Trump and the likes are able to go far in this life thanks to ignorant people like these. If it wasn´t for the masses with common sense in that same country, I´d say the other half of people deserve such man as president.
No one from the outside can break a narriage. If one of the spouses strays, then they were never fully committed to begin with. Trust me, I’m speaking from experience.
STFU you old f*****. You clearly can’t read. I said that I love Alicia as an artist I just thought this song was tacky.
What? LOL How was my comment about you? Retarded fool who thinks liking quality is being old…
Be quiet f*****.
I think the bigger problem is that people care too much about the private lives of entertainers. I miss the days when people bought music just to enjoy it
And this is for Alicia´s fans: is the album worth it? I still have not checked it. I had not bought any albums in almost a year and I´m buying quite a few lately. I was hungry for new music (for owning more music I mean). Yesterday I purchased Honeymoon (yes late, but it was discounted. It is not Ultraviolence but it is still good). A Carpenters greatest hits (such beauty and peace in those songs and that voice) and a David Bowie one.
I had to thumb you down for purchasing Vinegar Moonshine. sorry.
the album is ok… I feel it’s better than Girl on Fire and I like the sonic direction but the lyrics are a bit underworked.
Hey you didn´t have to thumb me down only because of that! 🙂 Honeymoon was a disappointemnet coming from Ultraviolanece, I didn´t buy it last year at full price, but I saw it for 5 euros and it is worth that definitely. You cannot always release top notch quality. I like teh album a lot.
Karen Carpenter had such a beautiful voice
Yas!
wow. this video warmed my heart. it’s too bad her campaign is so understated this era cause at the age we’re living, this video needs to go viral.
Mashonda is a beautiful woman!
Such an beautiful song and video and ASAP did an amazing job on the rap. I literally cried.
Very nice video. I love Alicia’s artistry.
Beautiful message, whack song!!!!!
She doesn’t seem to be promoting this that much but then again I’m not sure if it would help the song perform any better. It’s not radio friendly. It doesn’t sound like traditional or contemporary r&b, there’s no hip hop edge, it’s too slow for pop radio, etc. The message is nice but it’s a bit corny for this day and age in my opinion. This may have worked about a decade ago.
This era is not too good. The voice is doing great for her and she has buzz if she want to look into developing that. Diary of Alicia key is such a masterpiece that she can do no wrong. The summer of 04 everybody wAs bangin “secrets”. She got hits
Flop entirely.
She’s over.
I previewed Emeli Sande’s Akbum today
.
it sounds promising, I’ll be buying it. Shake sounded like the best song on the album
i really didn’t see her flopness coming. After Girl on fire I tough she would go the Beyoncé way and come back harder and stronger yet here she is deep into flopland amd from the look of it there’s no coming back
this song is so corny, but great message
Put a fork in Alicia Keys because she’s done
Great video…. Great artist!
Great video but where is her stepdaughter that Swizz beat have
