As the year draws to a close, TGJ is reflecting on 31 moments that rocked – and to some degree shaped – the Urban and Pop musical landscape as we know it.

As quickly as 2015 saw Azealia Banks earn support for her endearing stance on racial equality measures (namely stemming from her battle with Australian femcee Iggy Azalea), she lost those votes after 2016 handed her L after L after L.
From lost battles with Beyonce‘s #Beyhive and Rihanna‘s #Navy to being dragged on Twitter by a teen Disney star and Zayn Malik fans, the first half of 2016 should have been enough to silence the unnecessarily outspoken rapstress. But, for what the year’s first quarters didn’t do, incidents from its latter half unfortunately left the rapper in tears.

I don’t pay attention to social media a lot, it’s a huge waste of time as most people pretend to be something they’re not or obsess over people who don’t pay them bills or know they’re alive. She’s a hood rat, we know that. But her music is sickening and she gives you a NASTY beat and catchy flow. So I’ll continue to ignore her personal life and focus on her sole purpose in my life- her music.
That’s not social media’s fault. SHE chooses to let her messy personality overshadow whatever talent she may have.
