Listen: Katy Perry Teases New Song ‘Chained to the Rhythm’

Published: Tuesday 7th Feb 2017 by Rashad

Is Katy Perry taking a page from friend Rihanna‘s playbook?  If the island flair of her new Sia & Max Martin-penned single, ‘Chained to the Rhythm,’ is any indication the answer is a resounding YES!

Just a day after the announcement the song is set to premiere in full this Friday (and be performed at this Sunday’s Grammy Awards), a newly blonde Perry has sent #Katycats into a frenzy by giving a taste of what they can expect from the Skip Marley-assisted tune.

    No point.

  2. Remy February 7, 2017

This is what I’ve been waiting for. Say what you will, but Ms. Perry is one of the last few artists who does traditional and creative promo for their eras. This brings me back to the old days when artists like Brit, Christina, and the gang would debut new singles at award shows…leaving you begging for more. I’m here for it, especially since Gaga thought she reignited No-Anne.

    • LOL February 7, 2017

LMAO GURL BYE, NOBODY IS CHECKING FOR BASIC PERRY. ALL THE PAYOLA IN THE WORLD CANT HELP HER NOW SINCE SLAY-ANNE IS BACK ON TOP LMAO.

      • Belladonna February 7, 2017

Katy is going to blow up & the world will love it just watch come Friday!

      • Slayty is Chained to the Rhythm February 7, 2017

“Slay-Anne” lol Joseph won’t outsell Prism’s US only sales, even with the SuperBowl.

      • Sweetnothings@78 February 8, 2017

I get if you don’t like her. I can take or leave any artist however you haven’t really made a point considering her record sales say otherwise. Also her air time also deems your comment pretty pointless as all platforms want her on *scratched head at pointless comment*

      • Career Ender February 8, 2017

        discount-ga you mean?

  3. Shakira Stan February 7, 2017

    • Slayty is Chained to the Rhythm February 7, 2017

Like every Shakira song since about 2012? How is that wet goat doing?

  4. MusicFan103 February 7, 2017

Click bait. This is not a “listen” its a snippet or preview.

I like what I hear though, gives me 90s vibes. Very Ace Of Base >>>

  5. Jo February 7, 2017

This should be Ke$ha (it’s moreso her style anyway) but she wanted to play the white woman card and yell r*** to get her way. Shine on, Katy.

    • Surprise..(DEC 2013) February 7, 2017

What a horrible thing to say?? How do know she wasn’t actually r****..

    • Sweetnothings@78 February 8, 2017

Why does r*** come into it?
Do other ethnicities not ‘scream’ r***?

And FYI she won the court case.

Such a foolish and racist comment.
      Please go back to school.

P.S I’m not a fan of her or her music I just felt the need to comment on you’re sloppy non educated approach.

  6. Surprise..(DEC 2013) February 7, 2017

Already sounds like a left over form SHITSM…….I just want her to do something more mature and leave the childish mess in the past.

    • #JACKIE February 7, 2017

Shut the f*** up and focus on All Night being absent from the charts!

      • Surprise..(DEC 2013) February 7, 2017

No u stinky B****…..Focus on JACKED UP being absent form anywhere, while BEY still has 4 albums charting. Also, i just realised CI-MUSCLE went on a bathroom tour for JACKME, but yet could not even sell them out…..WHAT KIND OF FLOPPITY FLOP FLOP IS SHE.

      • #JACKIE February 7, 2017

      • ForTori February 8, 2017

  7. mikey February 7, 2017

Hahahahahaha @ people thinking this is gonna flop! This is gonna be huge. The plan is laid out and the radio deal on Friday will kick the song into overdrive!

    You b****** are not ready!

Radio is desperate for something fresh right now and Katy has been gone for a minute!

    • LOL February 7, 2017

      • JESUSHCHRIST February 7, 2017

      • Slayty is Chained to the Rhythm February 7, 2017

Rise outpeaked every Flopga single after Applause. Every single one of them. Sit down.

    • Belladonna February 7, 2017

Katy is a Pop God & has millions to blow on PR. I know everyone is getting used to Trap Urban music ruling the charts but KAty is to big and EPIC TO FAIL!!!

  8. #JACKIE February 7, 2017

    SLAYty is back!

  9. iSpeakTruthNoFallacy February 7, 2017

Oh sh*t this is going to be huge! No I’m not just saying to say this as I believe Katy Perry is as bland and basic as wonderbread. However, I know this song, and I can tell who produced it or is hevily influenced by. That snippet alone is indicative that she’s going for that Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, psych-rock turned pop sound. If it’s anything that I suspect it to be, it will be massive. The little bit she played sounds a lot like my favorite song of 2015 called “Oino” by L.A. Priest….She might give Taylor a run for her money in the music department, because that sound ain’t Shake It Off sh*t! It’s more akin to Rih’s cover of Same Ol Mistakes

LMAO BYE GURL, U KNOW THIS SHYT IS GONNA FLOP HARDER THAN AMERICAN OXYGEN LMAO.

  10. Jeans February 7, 2017

Omg! That snippet is fire. This song is going str8 to #1. Katy, you done it again! She is gonna SLAY BIGTIME. Love it!! Very retro 90s feel to it. If you squint, it sounds “Weekend”-ish, but welcome back Katy!!!

  11. JanStan February 7, 2017

I’m here for Katy!! Granted the heaux is the most basic bish of the bunch and is known for nursery rhyme realness but that’s what I need. Just like Gagas halftime show I’m so needing a break from the politics. Bring it in candyland queen!

  12. Molly #Stargirl February 7, 2017

    im ready

  13. SMH February 7, 2017

    Lol.

  14. Beachgirl85 February 7, 2017

Katy yes time to slay I love Katy cause she stay fun colorful and I hope it’s a good song and video Katy is a big act so I doubt it would flop but any artist can have song not do well that don’t mean they’re irrelevant and can’t sell it gose up and down

  15. JoJ February 7, 2017

Sounds like something im going to love. Here for it, givez me 70s disco realness

  16. Slayty is Chained to the Rhythm February 7, 2017

She’s coming for wigs and I see the LittleSuicides are already shook. Yall better get that safe space ready cause come Friday Flopga will fad back into oblivion and Katy will resume her throne on top of the charts. Just a reminder that Rise, the alleged flop, outpeaked every single Flopga has released since Applause. Katy ended her back in 2013, her 5 remaining stans need not try it.

  17. Remy February 8, 2017

I’m so tired of everyone saying Rise was a flop. Sigh. First, Rise was NEVER meant to be a true commercial hit. It was for the Olympics. Based on that alone, it got waaaay further than it was meant to. You could tell it wasn’t meant for an album simply because of its roll out. We ALL know Katy gives her material full attention. I honestly believe she didn’t heavily promote the song so she wouldn’t confuse her fans/audience as if it was going to be the beginning of an era. Calling Rise a flop is like saying Beyonces “Here” was a flop. Neither sing was meant for Billboard 100, even though Rise still got major play.

  18. mr.m February 8, 2017

    That bish is done.
She better flop harder than cierror
coz I don’t know how she became successful.

  19. gurlbye February 8, 2017

Island vibe where??? Sounds like some 80s throwback s***.

  20. Meme February 8, 2017

Island vibe? You guys are reaching. I don’t get island at all from this clip. More retro pop vibe

  21. Anon February 8, 2017

It’s hilarious how Katy mirrors herself after something Gaga has already expressed. When Katy hit the scene, she wasn’t expressive and colorful and didn’t become that until Gaga opened the door for it. Katy’s “Roar” was a watered down “Born this Way”, then Katy runs off with green hair and a mechanical [or man made] horse after Gaga does it on the Born this Way Ball. Don’t know how recent the picture posted is but it sure does look a Joanneish.
