Yes and no. Selling albums is only one part of celebrity. Bey sells more concert tickets. Look at that old lady Madge. She flops over and over but makes huge profits in millions from touring. At a certain point new music from an older artist is not going to be marketable to consumers (including their fans) but that does not mean their star power is gone because they are still a touring force. That is the real reason why Mariah tours. She was never a touring force in her prime but now she is that she is not selling millions of albums.
