Since exploding on the mainstream charts alongside Kelly Rowland, David Guetta has been scooped up by a host of artists hoping to capture the dance magic he crafted on ‘When love Takes Over’. One of those artists happens to be the bane of the music industry, Rihanna. Guetta sat down with MTV News to reveal that he intended keep things up-tempo on Rihanna’s upcoming LP. Check out what he had to say below:
“Well, you know I’m a DJ, so I make beats that make you wanna dance,” Guetta told MTV News at the Activision E3 party in Los Angeles. “And I think she was one of the first to do that in that urban world, so you know, I think it would be good for her to do it again.”
Dutch DJ/producer Afrojack was able to get into the studio with Guetta and hear some of the material he’s working on for Rihanna.”He was in the studio with me the first time [after] he finished the new song for Rihanna,” Afrojack said of Guetta. “He was like, ‘Oh my God! You gotta hear this! It’s crazy!’ I was expecting some crazy club sh–. He played me that track, and it was a good track. I think, pop-wise, it’s a fatter sound. Musically, it’s as high a level as RedOne, Lady Gaga’s producer.”
“Rated R, I love the sound of it, in terms of the bass,” Rihanna told MTV Korea in February. “I really like the bottom, the grime of it. But if I were to combine that with more energetic, uptempo pop records, then I think that will be a happy marriage. And that’s where we’ll probably go next.” {Source}
Having enjoyed some of Rihanna’s other Dance-oriented efforts such as ‘Don’t Stop The Music’ and ‘Disturbia’, this news definitely bodes well for her next LP. However, Guetta’s states are clearly incorrect as Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey and a long list of other Urban artists have been making Dance music for years; long before Rihanna debuted on the charts. Either way, Dance music may indeed be the best direct to take with this album as the beats will distract us from her voice.

MC never making dance music?! Really? Were you living under a rock in the 90’s? Mariah’s been doing dance mixes along side DJ’s like CC Factory and David Morales since ‘Someday’ and ‘Emotions’. Right now she is perched in third place behind Janet and Madonna for artists with the most number-one Hot Dance Club Songs hits. She’s been remixing her singles with re-sung vocals for most of her career and is single-handedly the main reason why artists of today’s music are now expected to have a dance/ club remix of their singles. Hell, she has a 2-Disc album called Remixes which contains a disk of nothing but some of her most famous dance remixes. Mariah’s music as a whole may not reflect dance as easily as Madonna or Lady Gaga but she has been bringing on the club bangers for some time. So I guess it’s “SHAME ON YOU!”
