Kanye West has set his sights on the multinational clothing retailer Gap this year, revealing that he hopes to obtain full creative control of the company.

In a recent interview with ‘Style.com‘, West revealed:
Perhaps this is a bit of a demo tape. When I say Steve Jobs of the Gap, as I talk to the people at the Gap right now I’m not talking about a capsule. I’m talking about full Hedi Slimane creative control of the Gap is what I would like to do.
Slimane is the current creative director of Saint Laurent Paris, and now finds himself inspiring Kanye to seek the same role at Gap, following his partnership with Nike which spawned the Nike Air Yeezy footwear collaboration.
The mogul’s announcement comes after it emerged he served as executive producer on Rihanna’s forthcoming studio album, led by the single ‘FourFiveSeconds’ on which he features.

Kanye is definitely a creative soul. I just hate the fact that he’s so entitled. My friend is a designer and she went to school for it. She’s masterful at Sketching and sewing. Knows all the boring nuances about construction and fabrics. It’s almost an insult to the artistry for him to think that he supposed to be some fashion genius just because he’s had a good idea or two. I don’t know, he just irks me.
I agree. I feel like he’s passionate, but he doesn’t know the basics of fashion design, and he’s relying heavily on partnerships with other companies – Which is safe and a very typical celebrity-type thing to do. If he really wants to make his mark he needs to step outside the box and create the branding from scratch from a entrepreneurial perspective – Its hard, but its possible, and Pharrell has been doing it with his ‘Ice-Cream’ & ‘Billionaire Boys Club’ lines for almost a decade. I dunno, maybe i’m watching too much Apprentice.
I understand how you feel; however, that is what Kanye did in college. Before he was rapper, he was a visual artist and studied that. The reason why he acts out so much is because he’s been sequestered to solely the role of a rapper when he is capable and qualified to do so much more.
Oh please. He is more than just a rapper. He began publicly as a Producer. Thats already two things. He also is a songwriter and a singer thanks to 808s. Thats 4 major titles already. Not everybody is meant to be a crossover into different outlets type of star. Not everyone can be the Jennifer Lopez (dancer, singer, actor, producer, designer, tv personality, etc.), some must stay in their lane in being the (musician mainly only person a la) Mariah Carey.
There is nothing wrong with being that. Both equally as successful just where one may lack the other picks up in other places. Kanye as a rapper and producer was more than enough. I just want him back to his spoken-word-esc rapping skills/lyrics.
