Teairra Mari Discusses New Album With Jenny Boom Boom TV

Published: Tuesday 6th Jul 2010 by Trent

Teairra Mari revealed some interesting details about her upcoming album, ‘At That Point’, to Hot 93.7’s Jenny Boom Boom. The singer spoke about the reasoning behind the delay of her album, her next single featuring Reggae artist Mavado and her new movie ‘Lottery Ticket’. Peep the interview below:

It’s respectable that Mari has decided to get back on her grind and revamp her new album considering the amount of material that has surfaced on the web. After the low sales of Toni Braxton’s ‘Pulse’ earlier this year – which was also leaked long before it’s scheduled release date – it’s quite evident that the power of the Internet can work both for and against artists. However, as noted by Drake’s ‘Thank Me Later’ and Eminem’s ‘Recovery’, an album can still be quite successful despite leaking as consumers will support the project once the material is strong. Hopefully Mari has noted that point as well.

To The Queentina haters, here is Billboards take on the album, and don’t come at me with your s*** because you b****** always going running to billboard to stan for your music artists.

NEW YORK (Billboard) – We may have love affairs with all kinds of gimmicky divas, but it takes Christina Aguilera to remind us that singing really matters. That’s not to say the pop star’s latest release, “Bionic,” is all about her voice, a muscular acrobat that’s become more elegant with age. Combine it with the inventive work of a diverse cast of producers and you’ve got the best mainstream pop album of the year thus far. Sure, “Bionic” was made for a post-Lady Gaga world, where the comparisons are inevitable and the sales stakes are high. But from the fidgety intro of the dub-tastic opening title track (produced by Santigold collaborators John Hill & Switch) to punk-brat driving song “My Girls” (produced by Le Tigre, with a guest rap from Peaches) to Aguilera’s gloriously restrained delivery on “All I Need” (Sia Furler co-produced the vocals), the 18-song set shows an artist confident enough to take direct cues from her tuned-in creative team. Because she’s bold enough to do it her way, Aguilera maintains her reign

you just got served breakfast lunch and dinner my sweeties!

    *WHO OWNS THE THRONE?*

    *QUEENTINA!*

I don’t think Mari’s fan base Mari’s fanbase is as big as Drake’s for her album to leak and still be successful. And isn’t this like her 6th single released in 2 years. IDK. I wish her the best.

I’m sorry but this girl is not gonna be that successful with her lack of personality and so-so music. Although she’s a cute girl and she has a pretty decent voice, their isn’t much about her that is appealing. Well, Good luck to her anyway.

It should also be noted that the hype surrounding Drake’s album was a factor in its sales (although it is a solid project) also Eminem, Sade, Alicia and Whitney have solid fan bases. I have always like Teairra but she just doesn’t stand out enough. I mean she is sassy and s***, why can’t she have success?

Awww That is so cute that her and Ne-yo still cool. She needs to let him write and produce a banger track for her!

I just think Teairra needs to produce more concrete material and slowly move away from just summer bangers so that she can introduce herself to the mainstream. Ne-yo may be ale to help a bit since he’s good at balads and some dance tracks, etc.

I think if her label treats her like more of a priority, she’ll do fine. People just wont give her a chance but hey she’s making a name for herself.

I have to tip my hat off to Teairra, because the girl is a hustler. As someone pointed out, this is about the 6 single that she released; and despite the fact that no one can honestly say that any of the previously released tracks were wack, the only track to pick up fanfare was Sponsor. She’s thinking like a true business woman by releasing an EP, because who in their right mind would released an album that has been circulated for months. I believe that she keeps her nose to the grindingboard, she will see results. Her video with WSSH is genius, but it might be best to try to make the videos less s*** (I know, I said less s***), because her s** appeal might overshadow the fact that the girl can sang!!! But I always root for the underdogs especially those with talent, and I hope that people can stray away from comparing her to other big name artists, and respect her for what she does!!!

Keep up the good work Teairra, and I look forward to hearing “Coins” – cuz I fuks with a good reggae joint.

I’ve always had her back and always will! I’m rooting for her because she deserves some shine. She’s talented and a hustler, I just want her label to get on the ball and start doin more PROMO…not club promo..but MAJOR promo. And she’s sooooo SMART for scrapping that album because the material was VERY dated. And the song COINZ is FIRE!!!!
