Fans of ‘Trust a Try’ singer Janet Jackson have been given good reason to believe they’ll be receiving a new album from the star this summer today!
For, after talk of her new album began to heat up last winter, the star will learn that one of her fans made quite the discovery during a recent shopping trip.

Let’s hope this is one rumour that turns out to be false.
For, with no real way of telling how many album-buying fans Janet has left, I’d say a surprise released would be the safest way to avoid commercial misfortune once the album drops.
As Beyonce proved with her latest effort, the pressures of ensuring success on the Hot 100 can be avoided completely if one decides to sell their music as a complete body of work and not as a singles-led project.
A July 7th release date may see Janet forced to promote the album with a comeback single in the coming weeks but may see hype for its supporting project dwindle if the bop doesn’t blast Billboard once it drops (see ‘Applause’.)
The pandemonium surrounding a same day release for a new single, album and video would see the icon win on a streaming front at the very least, helping to hand her commendable first week chart positions even if their pure sales aren’t as impressive.
Fortunately and unfortunately, the above will never happen. For, the singer’s fans have confirmed that the album is available to pre-order from the ‘FYE’ outlet who have revealed the release will drop on July 10th.
We can’t wait to hear it!

The same star power that sold Discipline and 20 YO right? David is right so you need to stop being delusional. The fact is that Janet left the game before most of the gp that buy singles were old enough to have an itunes account.
The safest thing for her to do is make it a surprise so she at least sells well in her first week. What do you think will happen if her new single flops. I remember the way that her fan base had decreased in size by the time Discipline came out in 08 so why you think they’re still there today is beyond me.
I love Janet but you have to be honest with a person if you love them.
Discipline debuted at #1 and sold Gold in the U.S. (507,000) and Japan (100,000). She didn’t have any big performances like big award shows, or talent shows. She didn’t sell album with tickets and outsold almost every act who did. And the first single Feedback peaked in Top 20 on Hot 100 without help of any other “featured” young artist. The song also went to become #1 single in South Korea, Top 5 single in Canada, Bulgaria, Greece and Top 10 in several other countries. That’s star power, clearly.

Exciting!…She needs to release something, it’s been a long time.
As much as i’m excited a fan finding a CD in a record shop is not a confirmation! That could easily be from one of her old labels for a greatest hits, I’d rather see something official first, especially as CD’s are outdated!
I think Janet’s fans are ready for a new album. I feel this album will be a hit. The timing seems right, like Janet has been out of the spotlight long enough for us to miss her and welcome her back.
I love her but lets be real,, she will flop if she did the surprise album thing,,but hey,she is set for life so she can flop all she wants as long as i am getting new music,then i am here for this project if its true…

It’s not about record sales or what person outshined you, it’s about surviving the game. For example, look at Brandy, she still surviving the game. She’s on Broadway, about to get her own sitcom, and working on new music. AND I don’t even care about how many albums she sales the fact that Brandy went from tragedy to triumph is what matters and the same thing goes for Janet. Janet has been in this business for almost 40 yrs and have seen a lot of things. She has cult classic hits not just with music but TV and film alone. So I don’t even care about the album sales, she probably won’t care about the album sales her own self . All Janet and Wissam got to do is a check out to make things happen Mrs. Al mana is on a whole different ball game from Beyonce. Janet is dealing with somebody who has real money and his money is very long and comes from a very rich family. Wissam Al mana could show you how a billion dollars on a elevator will look like, he turn that sucker into gold. But anyways the fans don’t care about album sales, we’re just happy about her return.
This is not going to happen. The only person to confirm a new album and its release date will be Dunk herself. Janet is THE Queen of Dance with an incredible discography. We should just enjoy the music we already have from her.

CD’S are far from outdated. A lot of y’all dont even legally download music. Physical albums are awesome. Janet will do what she wants and she can. Mariah is a mega ICON. SHE makes awesome music. She aint embarrassing nothing. And it’s funny that you mention she & Madonna, when both outsell many of these basic floos. Work on getting Cici’s album to sale.

I don’t think it will be another Greatest Hits as her last release was her Number Ones album and her label released the Icon album too shortly after (that’s back to back best of albums already and a 3rd one is unnecessary.
I’m craving for some NEW music from the QUEEN and I don’t care if she releases it the old fashion way or as a surprise album. I’ll buy it regardless 🙂
we can’t predict what will happen but I do hope she works with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis to rekindle the magic they had before with a modern twist. I will buy what ever she releases and truly love hearing fresh vocals from her.

I went to see The Velvet Rope twice, I saw her Rock Witchu concert and her Number One’s concert in 2011!
