Rihanna may need a sturdier umbrella, because confusion continues to rain on her eighth album ‘ANTI.’
Depending on the source, the serially delayed LP is either due imminently or sitting unfinished without a release date in sight.
Unfortunately for Rih, a new report suggests the latter is still the case.

ANTI will be Rihanna’s first album on her new label deal with Roc Nation, which is also her management company, a combination unheard of for a superstar. Her team had previously slated the album to drop on 11/6, but they’ve moved off that date, quite possibly because it won’t be ready in time.
11/13 would seem to be out, due to the double whammy of SYCO/Columbia’s One Direction and Def Jam’s Justin Bieber, both of which were initially projected to sell north of 350k.
Putting things in perspective, although Rihanna’s recent singles haven’t been smashes, possibly lowering the ceiling on ANTI’s first-week, her brand is bigger than ever, and in big-picture terms, her brand is where the big money is.
If indeed true, the whole episode continues to be a mucky-mucky, mess-mess.
Still, it does make for a compelling story. Ms. Fenty has had the year…yes, the whole year, to release largely unchallenged. And yet she ends up in a predicament where she’s almost certain to be devoured by the competition.
The one saving grace, which HITS accurately touch on, is that Rihanna’s brand game continues to be on fleek. Hence, it’s not as if she’ll be at a loss for coins or coverage.
That said, the primary problem is that she’s an act who boasts that her “reign just won’t let up.” Ironic as there’s been nothing royal about her music or chart trajectory this year.
From where we’re standing another pre-album single is most certainly not an option at this point. So, we say drop the album on Halloween (avoiding the 1D-Bieber-Adele lashing), grab an easy #1 (albeit with so-so numbers), and keep…it…moving. Thank us for the suggestion later.

Not sure why anyone is calling FFS or BBHMM “flops” because they weren’t. FFS hit #4 on the Hot 100, which is higher than WHYB, Unfaithful, Pour It Up, and many of her other popular hit singles. BBHMH hit 15 but did well commercially. Notice that it has alos peaked higher than Beyonce’s WRTW(Girls), Party, and ANYTHING from the amazing “Beyonce” album aside from Drunk in Love.

Hello….For those of you who really follow Rihanna and the way she has been managed over the years you would know her album releases aren’t centered around bagging a number 1 album but more ensuring the album has longevity to remain on the charts and sell well. Most of her albums have been released with plenty competition and have gone on to sell extremely well.
At this point we aren’t getting a clear direction for this album hence the constant push backs not because of the competition she may find herself up against. She’s playing around with different styles and need to be sure the one taylored for this album performs.
I think at this point the album been finished but Rihanna is over thinking that’s never a good thing girl.
last i heard, any anti news would come from rih, and last she said was the album was not ready…fail to see how this is news…the amount of rent money this album has made sam and its not even out yet!

Some people think Rihanna is still tinkering. Some think she’s afraid to release it for fear of not getting a #1. I think it may be a bit of both.
Rihanna’s first #1 album in the States is ‘Unapologetic’ so it doesn’t strike me that she’s all that concerned about a #1. However, her label may be concerned about the underperformance of the singles so there may be a chart watch from that view.

As for R8, I think too much money and time has been invested in it. Naw, “4” wasn’t delayed though. It came out on release day as planned, DURING Adele season. And really, I don’t see any parallel between the Queen’s “4” era and “ANTi.” Bey released “4” regardless. Win, lose, or draw. Most importantly, it remains my favorite album from her. She delivered a high quality album.

Lol 4 was not delayed. It went as scheduled. It was even leaked before the release date she still debuted over 400k which is more than Rihanna has ever done. The album’s lead single was Run The World (girls). Beyonce’s album was received poor either. Its a universal critically acclaimed albums. She continued that success with “BEYONCE” her second universal critically acclaimed album.
I think ANTI is gonna be dope! I like the concept. Rihanna’s always gone against the grain and defied other’s expectations of what a Pop Princess, young Black woman, super-star celeb, and cultural influencer should be.
Honestly, with the “anti” concept Rih has going, she should just go ahead and release a double album. Seriously. They said she had recorded so much music already and we’ve seen just how different her sound varies for this album with the singles and snippets she may as well divide them into two categories that depict her different sides/perceptions of who she is/personas/ideas/aspirations, etc and have those discs depict her “anti” concept in storytelling song-form.
I mean, she has enough of a legacy already to warrant a double disc release of new music. And if she’s trying to transition to a new sound, she could use this release as her vehicle for that and just go full out “new sound” on the next one.

No, “The Velvet Rope” is certainly not a flop (hence why I put the word flop in quotation marks) but each album represents a more challenging album than the one that preceded it sans Tori because ALL of her albums are challenging.
janet, Like A Prayer, Purple Rain, and Baduizm all came before the albums I mentioned and they were monster sellers. On their next albums, each artist took a risk, regardless of what they would or would not sale. That’s my point.
Rihanna needs to release her music without thinking about the charts, especially at this point in the campaign. As long as the music is amazing, that’s all that will matter in the end.
Even Chris Brown is releasing next month wtf is she so afraid of? She released 3 singles, the album cover and the title and still I see tumbleweeds and hear crickets. She’s setting herself up for failure so she might as well just drop it within a week or two.
