Preview Christina Aguilera’s ‘Burlesque’ Soundtrack

Published: Saturday 6th Nov 2010 by Trent

Amazon has released preview clips of Christina Aguilera’s soundtrack for her new movie, ‘Burlesque’. While the record also features 2 contributions from her co-star Cher, the blond belter sings 8 of the 10 included songs.

Noticeably absent from the lineup are several songs such as ‘That’s Life’ from Alan Cumming. There is no word as to whether they have been axed from the lineup or if they will only be added to versions of the soundtrack in specific territories. Check out the preview below:

Fans of Aguiler’a ‘Back To Basics’ album will definitely enjoy this record. There is a lot of belting, drum-based instrumentation and general sass to keep that group of listeners satisfied from beginning to end.

However, I hope that Aguilera leaves this type of music on the movie set and focuses on developing a more contemporary sound for her next project. This is not the 1940’s; it’s 2010 and unless she wants to become a relic like that era she fancies so dearly then she needs to get with the times.

    Trent, you are such an EPIC FAIL! Spotlight is actually Show Me How You Burlesque but you already corrected it. But you replaced it with Diamonds lol. Another major fail. Diamonds is actually The Beautiful People.
    SPOTLIGHT = SHOW ME HOW YOU BURLESQUE
    DIAMONDS = THE BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE

    Sounds awsome, i’ve always wanted an album from Christina singing songs like Etta and this sound like just what i needed lol. “Express” is fire, they better have an amazing vid for it like they had for “Lady Marmalade” and of course Sia and XTina = AMAZING so imma need “Bound to you” to be a single too.
    The next album will be more contemporary and deep (in subject matter). 2011 is the year that haters eat their words, hit film, new album, Grammys. #GoGirl

    Saw this movie at an advanced screening recently and it was a really great film. I went in expecting it to be terrible, but it was really entertaining and had some solid performances from it’s cast. Christina is surprisingly a really good actress, and while her role wasn’t the meatiest thing ever, she did a great job with it and showed some emotional range that made me curious as to what she could do with a more dramatic role.

    It wasn’t a super serious film. The whole point of the film was just to entertain from beginning to end and it definitely delivered on that. It wasn’t over the top campy, but it didn’t take itself too seriously either. It did have some cliches, but it didn’t take too much away from the film in my opinion. In fact, I almost think the movie benefited from a more simple story, as the performances were so big and bold. It really grounded the film and prevented it from getting too serious and losing it’s audience’s attention the way films like “Nine” did.

    The only time it even went to an OTT place were for the musical numbers, which were all superbly well lit, staged, choreographed, and costumed. It had great cinematography and all of it really provided a visual feast reminiscent of Chicago and Moulin Rouge. I can definitely see Aguilera getting a GG nomination in the musical/comedy category and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Cher or Stanley Tucci get recognized throughout awards season. All in all, it was surprisingly fun and entertaining and is definitely worth a watch.

    The very large demographic of the baby boomer generation (and many of their children who were raised with this “meaty” music !) all love the 1940’s sounds of Christina Aguileral belting out songs like the ones in the Burlesque soundtrack. There are hundreds of artists singing the homogenous and often bland contemporary music. Hope she continues in this vein. She has the audience!!

    A rolling suitcase should also have large wheels that can roll
    over bump surfaces. A set of Delsey luggage would be
    the perfect wedding gift. A small bathroom scale is not going to work well to weigh your luggage because you will
    have to balance the large bag on the small scale.
