Fans of FOX’s ‘Star’ were absolutely devastated in early May 2019 when it was announced the beloved series was cancelled after its third season.
Spurring a #SaveStar petition and campaign by its devoted viewers, the movement was an attempt to get other networks – including streaming services like Hulu and Netflix – to pick up the show to bring its story to the close it deserved. Just a month ago its director, Lee Daniels, confirmed he was hard at work to expedite the campaign’s process with hopes of finding ‘Star’ a new home (click here to read more).
Fast forward to today, Daniels confirmed his valiant efforts were futile. But, while the show has not been promised a new season, fans can rejoice at news it will come back…in the form of a 2 hour movie! Details inside:
As of time reported, there is no confirmation of the film’s premiere date or what network it will premiere on. All we know is we’re excited to learn all the characters will be back to reprise their roles!
THIS IS NOTHING MORE THAN LEE DANIELS’ TYPE A PERSONALITY PUSH ON OVERLOAD! He does not have any financial backing for the film. FOX wants nothing to do with him or his future projects. He has not secured a network to house the project. Hell, the script isn’t even finished it’s first rewrite. He is merely goosing around ideas & presenting it now as a done deal. He’s so foolish… in everything he does. The ways in which he has turned his back on Jussie is purely DISGUSTING.
This little STAR movie will never see the light of day.
I know two of the cast members very personally.
Even they admitted that the film project is Lee’s pure determination to make it happen. There is NO FINANCIAL BACKING & Lee does not have the coin to pay actors, production & permits on his own.
Sooner rather than later Lee. Queen Latifah stays booked and the rest of the cast are surely looking for work so if they get booked they won’t be able to do it. Plus the longer the wait the more forgettable the show becomes and making a finale becomes unfathomable. Why not bet?

This show kept us on edge episode after episode. It never lost its fire!!! Sad to say there are shows that should not be on as they have lost their “fire” after the first season. Every show isn’t “Star” material. Bring it back!!!
