Janet Cancels Japanese Tour

Janet Cancels Japanese Tour
In news that unfortunately comes as no surprise, it has been confirmed that Janet Jackson’s Japanese leg of her ‘Rock Witchu’ tour, which was supposed to kick off in 3 weeks, has been postponed due to the ‘global financial crisis’:

Janet Jackson is having a rough time of it. She split with her second major label in less than three years after her latest album, Discipline, failed to catch fire. Her 2008 Rock Witchu Tour was plagued by postponed and canceled dates due to an unexplained illness that was later described as severe vertigo.

And now the singer has been forced to postpone her upcoming tour of Japan due to the global financial crisis. According to BBC News, Japanese concert promoter Kyodo Yokohama announced on Monday that Jackson would be postponing the five dates the singer had scheduled in Japan between February 14 and February 22 “due to the impact of [the] economic crisis.”

Jackson, 42, had planned to hit such major Japanese cities as Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka on the world Rock Witchu outing, which was her first major tour in nearly seven years. According to reports, the tour will be rescheduled for later this year with new dates expected to be announced in March.

The announcement comes on the heels of the recent news that Jackson’s longtime boyfriend, rapper/producer Jermaine Dupri, has left his position as the head of Island Def Jam Records’ urban music department after what he described as a troubled relationship with label boss L.A. Reid. {Source}

It kinda goes without saying that we here at That Grape Juice both love and respect Miss Jackson and her many achievements, but this is BS if I’ve ever heard it. ‘Global economic crisis’ is far from a legit reason for ‘postponing’ a tour, only to suggest new dates will be announced in March for later in the year; the financial crisis isn’t heading anywhere anytime soon -so…? I wish Janet and/or her team could get themselves sorted, as her tour, by all accounts, is a must-see. SMH…

This will give the opportunity to work on those kids they say they want together . . . I mean she is 42 and the clock has been ticking for sometime now . . .

That's not BS..and I'm telling you for sure. I'm gonna give you a solid example.
Here in Romania huge names were announced for 2009 since the summer of '08. The Pussycat Dolls had their name on a temporary list for a concert here, Justin Timberlake was also announced..and that's just to begin with. And it was made public on the news that because of this global economic crisis, sponsors don't have the money to bring them here anymore and now the only big acts from here are Depeche Mode, Sting & James Blunt, which will consume by the end of March….

So yeah Janet is DONE new chicks came into the game give up sweetheart! Oh and atleast all three of these women could carry a tune louder then her in their sleep LMAO!

Sorry but Beyonce Is NOT stealing all ages audience. Her music only appeals to ppl 18 and below, for the most part. I think the only artist that appeals to all ages in terms of R&B would be Alicia Keys. Look at her sales compared to Beyonce, there you have it.

I used to love Janet but she is totally lame now.

I like Janet Jackson. If you seen recent pictures of her, then you know that she was not planning to do any tours. She gained a lot of wait probably from all the stress and commotion around her album sells and record label.

Janet is done!!! The Global crisis my a**!!! Beyonce and Britney are set to go on in the upcoming months, and their shows already sold out in most parts of Europe. Meanwhile Tina turner and Madonna are selling out shows with no problem .So whats Janet’s excuse?!? Bottom line people are tired of Janet. Please Don’t bring Alicia Keys course when it comes to touring, she’s no match for Beyonce’s global appeal.Sales? Beyonce outsold Alicia internationally, they are both at 3mil plus domestically.Anyways FYI Beyonce latest album has just been certified double platinum(look it up on RIAA website)in 10wks, and she about to do some annihilation with this upcoming tour, get ready folks.

I think it’s time for Janet to retire, she hasn’t been making that much great music lately.
She’s forty, she should just get her family started, i guess. She should just leave space for those chicks out right now that are hot, and for those on the rise. There are some other ladies over 40 that should do the same. and it’s almost that time for Mariah, too, but she still has some left in her, so she’s got an excuse, cuz she has a tremendous gift and talent, unlike Janet, who doesn’t, but has the Jackson 5.

Sorry to disappoint you, but beyonce appeals to a wide range of ages. Esp. the DC fans who grew up with her and are well into their 20s and 30s. AK is cool but she ain’t the greatest artist of this generation. And how does Bey’s sales prove that her only audience are teens. She is selling consistently well in the US and overseas with IASF.

IDK whats up with Janet but, I have read reviews from journalists and fans/non-fans on shows for Tina Turner, Madonna, Beyonce and X-Tina and they all have ppl come to their shows who wernt fans at first but then they become fans. And they get great reviews. Performance is key and Janet is losing her fire power. She's good, but she aint no Springsteen or Sting & The Police or Tina! Their Legends and their still going strong. So like someone above me asked, what is Janet's excuse?

I dont know whats going on with Janet but the one thing you cannot say is that she is losing fire power as far as performing….i have seen her a few times including the RWY tour and believe me she didn’t miss a beat! she reconfirmed why she is an icon! i was sooooo amazed and entertained! i was worried that with the lack of album sales and fickle fans fading that would effect her performance but she showed up and showed the f*** out!!! now as far as her salvaging the rest of her career she needs to do something quick but if she doesnt it doesnt make a difference she is still a icon! and her resume speaks for itself…wikipedia her and see how many accomplishments she has made and tell me if any of the newer girls will EVER match that!

i don't think global financial crisis is the reason for cancelling her tour. if it is, why is madonna extending her sticky & sweet tour.
