A Rihanna rep hopes to silence the storm whipped up by Shaggy‘s claim that he was forced to audition for a role on her next album.

Shaggy claimed that the Pop princess’ camp made him feel as though he was auditioning for a feature on her next project and stepped away from the album’s creative process because of it.
Her rep, according to a new report which emerged today, tells a different story
After Rihanna had already gathered all the material for the album, Shaggy contacted her asking to be a part of the album. She explained to him that the album was pretty much completed and they were just working on mixing, mastering, and deciding which songs to actually use. However, she invited him to submit some materials so she could see if it fits with the flow of the album. That was by no means asking for an audition, it was more going out of her way to get him on the album.
He is yet to respond.
The report claims the supposed rep also added…
We hope Shaggy will come out and let the fans know the real truth because we all know that the media in general and especially entertainment media cannot be trusted. They will twist someone stories in order to get the most viewers.

It’s not really an audition when you give someone a chance to send some material even though the album is done. I guess he took it the wrong way.
I wholeheartedly believe her story. I can’t picture Rihanna reaching out to shaggy. His sound just does fit her esthetic. Also all Caribbean ppl think of shaggy as the pop version to dancehall. Real dancehall lovers don’t f**k with shaggy. Rihanna is very much in tune with what’s hot right now in dancehall and I expect the likes of Popcaan, konshens, buju, spice, and beenie man to be apart of this project.
