Rihanna Rep Responds To Shaggy Remarks?

Published: Wednesday 15th Jan 2020 by David

A Rihanna rep hopes to silence the storm whipped up by Shaggy‘s claim that he was forced to audition for a role on her next album.

Full story below…

Shaggy claimed that the Pop princess’ camp made him feel as though he was auditioning for a feature on her next project and stepped away from the album’s creative process because of it.

Her rep, according to a new report which emerged today, tells a different story

After Rihanna had already gathered all the material for the album, Shaggy contacted her asking to be a part of the album. She explained to him that the album was pretty much completed and they were just working on mixing, mastering, and deciding which songs to actually use. However, she invited him to submit some materials so she could see if it fits with the flow of the album. That was by no means asking for an audition, it was more going out of her way to get him on the album.

He is yet to respond.

The report claims the supposed rep also added…

We hope Shaggy will come out and let the fans know the real truth because we all know that the media in general and especially entertainment media cannot be trusted. They will twist someone stories in order to get the most viewers.

Who even cares? Even if he had to audition, it’d a common practice in the acting world. Ppl actually have to audition for a role. 🤷‍♂️

Right! Shaggy ain’t had a hit in over 20 years … Damn I need him audition to be my dog walker.

      • Cûûmila Cebolla January 15, 2020

Leave the dog walking to Camila.
She needs those coins desperately now that her tour ain’t selling lol

He’s a Reggae legend and a pioneer. Don’t play yaself. He’s an elder.. have some respect. Can’t dismissed a person based on when they last had a hit. He made plenty of cash, during his reign. I’m sure he’s good.

I don’t see why it should be any different for musicians

idk.. only because there’s always 2 sides of the story i mean they do sound familiar just that now she is saying album was done. but he didn’t state that. he said he just walked away because he felt like he was auditioning and that he’ll leave that to someone else. He has the respect tho so nobody can tell him otherwise,

    • Cûûmila Cebolla January 15, 2020

It’s not really an audition when you give someone a chance to send some material even though the album is done. I guess he took it the wrong way.

I wholeheartedly believe her story. I can’t picture Rihanna reaching out to shaggy. His sound just does fit her esthetic. Also all Caribbean ppl think of shaggy as the pop version to dancehall. Real dancehall lovers don’t f**k with shaggy. Rihanna is very much in tune with what’s hot right now in dancehall and I expect the likes of Popcaan, konshens, buju, spice, and beenie man to be apart of this project.

This. Shaggy is a watered-down, pop, more family-oriented version.

Riiiight. The Pop landscape is starving for a great hit and RiRi is yet to let us down. Hurry up girl!

And there you have it. As soon as I saw audition I knew that wasn’t the case. Shaggy seem to be the one with the ego here. You can’t expect to just be on someone album last min and there’s no telling if your sound will fit.

Now watch as Beyoncé quickly tries to rush her album out. Just like last time with Anti and Lemonade…

    • Cûûmila Cebolla January 15, 2020

I don’t think Rih has to worry about those missing 12k in the US or 990 copies in the UK 🤣

      • Shayla Queen January 15, 2020

She definitely doesn’t. But you know how Beyoncé thinks she can over-shadow everybody. But everybody ain’t Michelle Williams.

      • Cûûmila Cebolla January 15, 2020

Isn’t that what the Beyhive said during Anti-Lemonade? Now look what album is still sitting pretty on the charts ☺️

Do you even have clean water to bathe where you live?

SI believe Rihanna.Shaggy is very arrogant and has a sense of entitlement. He talks s*** about everyone who doesn’t do what he wants them to do. I remember he talked s*** about Janet when they did the “Luv Me Luv Me song together

  8. G-bby January 15, 2020

Really who cares about Shaggy? He hasn’t been relevant in two decades. The most important fact that I took from the statement is THE ALBUM IS DONE!

  9. Led January 15, 2020

I mean that’s what people do anyway.
You don’t just submit a song to an artist and say here it is now use it.
No they asked you to submit some material and if they like it they’ll use it.
Shaggy has been in this industry too long to not understand that.

  10. It’s a shame January 15, 2020

Twondiffeeent perspectives. Shaggy may have felt like it was an audition as he may have wanted to actually sit in the studio with her and create a vibe so what he heard was something completely different.

Makes sense on both sides and it isn’t that deep. Maybe next time. However, the album is almost here, and that my friends it what matters most.
