In the age of the household name, Pop’s brightest stars were given the time, budget and creative resources to create records designed to generate millions of dollars.
Today, in a world where many of the platforms artists would once use to promote themselves have been dissolved, the line between artists who are really making an impact in the culture and those whose careers are powered by smoke, mirrors and playlists has never been murkier.
Fortunately, the R&B titan Ro James falls into the former category.

Ro James x Permission is such a smooove and sultry traaack when I picture myself married with teenage kids jamming to the classics with their mother this is the song that comes to mind 😆

Ro James, whose aunt is the singer Rosie Gaines, was born in Stuttgart, Germany and releases material via Mark Pitts’ ByStorm Entertainment and RCA Records.
This month the entertainer reached a number of Spotify milestones thanks to the fan base he shares with peers Miguel, Luke James, Keithian and Avery Wilson.
The biggest? His single ‘Permission‘ has been streamed 42 million times on the platform.
42,263,848 to be exact.
This means it has earned a little over $168,000 on the platform thanks to the 1 million unique subscribers who spin his tracks every month on the digital streaming service.
With this figure, James stands tall as one of the highest-streamed R&B acts in the business…eclipsed only by numbers generated by the likes of Usher, Boyz II Men and the disgraced villain R. Kelly.
Quite interestingly, ‘Permission‘s six-figure win was earned without any chart glory (the song failed to impact the Billboard Hot 100) and sold and streamed enough units to receive a Platinum certification and outperform releases it was “out-charted” by following its release in 2015.
Ro James – You….. really brings the tears for me 😭

His latest album “MANTIC” is a Classic. You don’t have to skip not one song. I’m not a fan but I’m glad I took a listen because it’s been in rotation since it came out!
