Six-time GRAMMY® nominee and box office star Tyrese Gibson joined forces with three-time GRAMMY® winner CeeLo Green to use music as a mean to deliver an address to racial disparity and police brutality in America.
Titled ‘Legendary,’ the gripping tune saw its accompanying Deon Taylor-directed music video premiere August 28.
Clocking in just at 8:46, the clip’s runtime is the exact amount of time a white Minneapolis police officer used his knee to pin the neck of African American local George Floyd to the ground (causing his death as a result).
Speaking on the socially conscious effort, Tyrese stated:
“Legendary is powerful because the music and the video are meant to shift how we are seen. We’re in the middle of a revolution. As Black people we are fighting two pandemics: COVID-19 and Systemic Racism. The video painfully underscores the plight of our community, while asserting that Black Lives Matter. As for the music? The proudest moment of my life is when attorney Benjamin Crump said ‘Legendary’ is the new anthem of the movement.”
Watch the powerful visual inside:
Yawn…. this s*** is getting old. Pretending that black people are somehow oppressed in 2020 is laughable and lame. The only oppression you are suffering from is your own victim-hood mentality. #AllLivesMatter
Fool. Hopefully nobody engages with you. You’re looking for attention and this comment is all you’re getting.
Well you point tends to be valid in some regard. IMHO, black people are oppressed in very specifics ways. However, some in our community tend to overplay the Oppression Card.
Having said that, while I agree that all lives matter, when we look at the history of Black People and The Law, it is different from that of any other race. Thus, it warrants that we look twice at these types of instances to ensure we progressing and not bad practices continue.
“It feels desperate.” Isn’t that what he said about cardi, Megan, and Nicki? Seems fitting here when talking about him
I don’t wholly agree with the hyperdramatic narrative, but the video quality is excellent and I like the song’s sound.
CeeLOW Green is a rapi*st.
