In the wake of Derek Chauvin‘s conviction for murdering George Floyd, US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have spoken up and out about the seismic significance of the verdict.
Beyond praising the decision, the powerful pair reminded of the work still needed to eradicate the stain of systemic racism.

“Today, we feel a sigh of relief. Still, it cannot take away the pain. A measure of justice isn’t the same as equal justice.”
Biden echoed the sentiment saying:
“Nothing is going to make it all better but at least God now there is some justice.”
He added:
“such a verdict is also much too rare,” noting that systemic racism is “a stain on our nation’s soul” and needs to be erased for good.
