Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett are now in contention for possible major looks at the 2022 GRAMMY Awards – despite initially seeming to have purposefully missed the cut-off point with their new collaborative album ‘Love For Sale.’
Full story below…
The potent pair’s new Jazz LP arrived digitally and on CD on October 1.
With the GRAMMYs mandating a September 30 deadline for releases to be considered for the 2022 ceremony, it looked like Mother Monster and Bennett would see their critically acclaimed set have to wait it out until 2023 for possible awards.
All because of one day.
However, due to a technicality, ‘Love For Sale’ is now eligible for GRAMMY 2022 glory.
See, some configurations of the project – such as cassettes – arrived on September 30. Thus, making the entire release eligible for the 64th annual GRAMMYs. And, arguably, at the most opportune time too, as it means the set will be fresh in the minds of voters.
As reported, ‘Sale’ – which is Bennett’s final album – will be supported by three ViacomCBS specials.
I guess he’ll be 💀 by then. Hopefully not but The Grammys ratings have been down so you never know.
