After joining forces to top music charts with hits like ‘Knock You Down,’ singers Keri Hilson and NE-YO reunited in an attempt to reign over TV ratings charts with their VH1 Christmas film, ‘Hip-Hop Family Christmas.’
Toplining a star-studded affair that featured MC Lyte, Terrence J, Serayah, Red Man, and more, Hilson and NE-YO (born Shaffer Smith) portrayed a newly-engaged couple who are looking to help soften the image of their fictional Rap royal family as the dysfunctional group prepares for a live Christmas television special.
Though a knockout on the critical front, look inside to see how ‘Family Christmas’ fared with its ratings.
Viewership: 265,000
Despite entering the ratings race on a night dominated by sports, news, and reality programming, ‘Hip-Hop Christmas’ ranked #3 among the highest-rated scripted offerings on cable Monday (December 6) and #2 among the highest-rated scripted offerings that aired during primetime.
With its modest audience of 265,000 viewers, the Greg Carter-directed film – when all television formats are considered – ranked #60 among the 150 top-rated cable shows of the day.
The project comes Hilson’s fifth movie of the year (following ‘Don’t Waste Your Pretty,’ ‘The Hotline,’ ‘For the Love of Money,’ and ‘Lust’).
