This time last year UK music duo Right Said Fred was celebrating Rap superstar Drake for bringing their 90’s signature hit, ‘I’m Too Sexy,’ to a new generation via his ‘Certified Lover Boy’ #1 smash ‘Way 2 Sexy.’
That same elation wasn’t exactly extended to another one of music’s biggest names recently, however.
Look inside to see the criticism the twosome launched toward Beyoncé who also used interpolations of the 1991 tune in her 2022-released song ‘Alien Superstar’ (found aboard her latest history-making album ‘Renaissance’).
As Sun reported, the brotherly Pop pair – Fred and Richard Fairbrass – accused Bey of using their braggadocious classic on her LP without permission or their blessing.
“Normally the artist approaches us but Beyoncé didn’t because she is such an arrogant person,” Right Said Fred said of the alleged thievery. “She just had probably thought ‘come and get me’ so we heard about it after the fact when you did.”
Comparing her reported inaction to Drake and Taylor Swift, who used interpolations of the song in her 2017 chart-topper ‘Look What You Made Me Do,’ the siblings slammed Bey for not mentioning them on the ‘Superstar’ writing credits.
“Everyone else, Drake and Taylor Swift, they came to us,” the sibling pop sensations shared before later stating, “To use our melody they need our permission so they send us the demo and we approve it and if so we get a co-write credit. With this Beyoncé thing there are 22 writers it’s ridiculous so we would get about 40 [pounds].”
Ultimately, Right Said Fred suggested they won’t press the issue much and will just “let it go.”
“There is nothing we can do. It is s–t,” they relayed. “You are going to get into a conversation with someone who has a lot more presence and power and money than we do. And that won’t go well.”
Some critics argue Bey’s decision not to pursue a credit from Right Said Fred is due to the fact ‘I’m Too Sexy’ contains samples itself.
“I wasn’t aware that our guitarist, Rob Manzoli, had played the riff from Jimi Hendrix’s ‘Third Stone From the Sun’ on ‘I’m Too Sexy’ until much later [after its release],” Fred Fairbrass said in a 2017 interview. “I thought the guitar parts sounded like the theme from Coronation Street, but the Hendrix estate were very cool about it and just asked for a writing credit and a charitable donation.”

The story comes just months after Kelis claimed Bey committed a similar act of “theft” to her signature songs ‘Milkshake’ and ‘Get Along with You.’
Click here to read more about that.
Your thoughts?
Beyonce is using everyone
Just think about all the unknown people she stole from who doesn’t have the power or the name to even say a word.
And now you know that Kelis was speaking facts!!!
Drake and Taylor swift reached out directly to the artist. Yet Beyonce thinks she his above all.
She wished she could have the edge that Kelis has.
Kanye west is also a thief
Stealing from young designers and young music producers.
I’m predicting that it will flip on them eventually just like the how things flipped on R Kelly on “Surviving R Kelly” we will get “Surviving Beyoncé’s heist”.
If stealing is the trick to making them super rich as you claim, try it too maybe you might truimph indigence lmaoo
Most people don’t want to steal, that’s the all point dum.b bitc.h
It’s no surprise she’s been accused 1,000s of times of being a thief. People won’t keep saying the same thing about the same person if it’s not true. She’s a thief and always has been the end.
U didn’t read it I see.. their song is a sample so beyonce went to the original and ask for permission.. no comprehension skills. Stay in school
You didn’t read it. The guitar parts were sampled, not the melody of the chorus she took.
@ Justme, your the one that needs to stay in school fool!
Oh please. Y’all are just looking for attention and thought you’d have a major comeback because she used this sample. In all likelihood, a producer approached Beyoncé with the song nearly done and she signed off on it. That’s why they’re not going after her legally, because she did everything right in the legal sense.
Just because she did it the legal way doesn’t make it right. It’s called decency and unlike kelis, these boys have song writing credit on their song
Did u read the part were they said they are only making 40 pounds cause there are 22 writers on the songs?
How do u expect them to survive financially? This is their livelihood.
You’re an idiot if you expect them to live off of Beyoncé’s song. Won’t be the last time someone sampled their song. They’re doing just fine.
You’re an idiot who do know shìt
Ariana grande sampled Roger’s and Hammerstein all my favourite things for her song 7 rings, ariana gave them 90 percent royalties of the earnings from 7 rings
Diddy sampled the police every step you take, diddy gave sting 100 percent of the earning.
Diddy Pays Sting $2,000 a Day For a Sample He Used in the ’90s
Burna boy sampled toni Braxton song he wasnt man enough for me, he paid her a massive percentage from his song.
You can survive on money earning from people sampling you hit.
Dullard
Respect the Queen y’all, she helped put ya’ll on the map coz nobody was checking for ya’ll and your song is a sample too. Ya’ll suck!! (In Cardi B’s voice) Lmaooo
Are u dumb
I’m too s*** was a phenomenon
Taylor swift sampled the song in look what you made me do. Hit number 1
Drake did the same, hit number 1
Beyonce did the same, couldn’t crack the top 10, so now what?
So now f*ck off b*tch lmaoo
‘Way Too S***’ and ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ we’re both comeback singles and also the lead single from 2 big albums. Alien want even released as a single and still peaked at #16. But you know what WAS her comeback first single? BREAK MY SOUL, and you know that went to Number mothäfüçkiñg ONE, mad ãss BÏTÇH
Break my soul climbed to number 1 cause it had radio
Look what you made me do debuted at NUMBER 77 based on 3 days sales, the following week it jumped to number 1, same with drake I’m too sèxxy
The brothers are right though. And this is what Kelis was saying. Common decency and respect if your going to sample what someone else made hot to make your own music hot. I really like the album but maybe Beyoncé should have humbled herself and give them a heads up instead of thinking they should be grateful She sampled them. It is arrogance on her part.
40 pounds? That’s awful
Yall came for daine warren when she asked how 1 song can have 22 writers.
How are they gonna make any money from the song?
Beyonce gonna go on tour, performing this song and making hundreds of millions of dollars. That’s not fair.
On my post you said it didnt crack top 10 and now you say she’s gonna make millions of it so, whats your point mutt??
From touring and performing the song
Are u slow?
If anyone here who supports Beyonce’s moves was the artists she stole from, y’all would have 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 all day and night for recognition and the money 💰💰💰💰💰 she took from you.
You just too stu.pid to have the wisdom of trying to see things from others perspectives
If anyone of you was related to Right Fred Said or was in anyway gaining from the samples then your perspective would make sense lmaooo
@Tongue’Fcukk
You are so dum.b
You don’t need to be related to someone to be anti-theft.
Was every song a sample? Geesh
Unoriginal b@&$
She got all that money and can’t even hire someone to check credits and clearances on all her obvious unoriginal material
Time and time and time again. Yes she is arrogant – “Beysus” ain’t no Jesus honey!!! Let her steal your shyttt….
I’m glad he knows, THERE’S NOTHING THEY CAN DO, because she DIDN’T sample them. To interpolate a SIMILAR melody singing completely different words is not enough to say she outright plagiarized your work. She took that inspiration and made a whole new song AS WAS HER RIGHT. And glad she didn’t reach out to them, look how ungrateful they are, she didn’t have acknowledge them AT ALL, yet she credited them as the inspiration for the record, as well as the other artists who she got ideas from. Yeah y’all aren’t the ONLY artists that contributed ideas to the record, so Fxck outta here. Get off her d****.
Are u slow?
She sampled them and gave them a song writing credit cause they themselves wrote I’m too sèxxy.
Their problem is she difnt pick up the phone to call them
And they aren’t making any money from beyonce’s song cause there are 22 other songwriters on the song.
And yes u can live of song writing royalties
Sting receives 100% of the royalties from Diddy and Faith Hills ‘I’ll Be Missing You’.
Diddy pays sting 2000 daily for sampling every step you take.
Ariana Grande Is Hardly Making Any Money From ‘7 Rings’.
90 percent of the money from 7 rings goes to Rogers and Hammerstein
OWN YOUR S***..
She can’t take or sample WHATS YOURS… Without permish.
Old losers fighting to stay relevant … Luckily drake n Beyonce transformed that trash into MUSIC
Diddy Pays Sting $2,000 a Day For a Sample He Used in the ’90s
Sting receives 100% of the royalties from Diddy and Faith Hills ‘I’ll Be Missing You’.
U can live of money made from other artists sampling your song.
Beyonce did this boy dirty.
40 pounds is not money.
These men are not hot anymore, they need the money
22 songwriters on a song, that’s ridiculous. Everybody is gonna be getting pennies from sales of the song.
Beyonce is gonna make millions from touring, performing this song on every date.
Damn, shes a scammer
Faith Hill? Baby that’s a country artist. You mean the R&B legend FAITH EVANS
You don’t know what you’re talking about. Stfu
Her team already slammed this and since yall Hive I thought it’d be here already but guess not huh
The statement reads that Beyoncé got permission from the publisher. Right Said Fred’s argument is that Beyoncé didn’t come to them as a courtesy. Kelis was upset about the same thing, and rightfully so.
All I’m saying…where there is smoke, there is fire.
i stan beyonce, but can we please see migos giving eachothers blow jabs deep thro@ts and forced, rough, s**??? PLEASE!!!!!
lol all these comments are so toxic, is everyone here 12?
