Pop pettiness in its finest form is currently underway thanks to the #BritneyArmy – the diehard fans of the genre’s princess Britney Spears.
Justin Timberlake, Spears’ fellow Pop titan and ex-boyfriend, spent the latter half of 2023 being dissed by her fans and supporters alike after her less-than-flattering commentary on their relationship in her top-selling memoir ‘The Woman in Me.’
Letting the flames from that firestorm of criticism cool, Timberlake kicked off 2024 with reports of new music – a tease that came to fruition Thursday (January 25) with the unveiling of his new song ‘Selfish.’
To thwart its success the #BritneyArmy galvanized for a sales and streaming party of her 2011 ‘Femme Fatale‘ song of the same name (heard above).

While their efforts have yet to block Justin’s overall win (as the song currently sits atop the real-time iTunes chart), the endeavor has definitely been a hearty one as Spears’ 13-year-old tune has zoomed into the same tally’s top 10 – besting the commercial performance of many current hits like Ariana Grande‘s ‘Yes,And?,’ Taylor Swift‘s ‘Cruel Summer,’ Dua Lipa‘s ‘Houdini,’ and more.
Once coupled with streaming numbers from all the major digital platforms as well as sales data from other music retailers, the iTunes stats above could even help Britney’s ‘Selfish’ appear on the Hot 100 week after next.

I miss Brit Brat. She crazy, but when it was hidden because she had to work and didn’t have time to let it show those were the good Ole days.
B**** it’s number 2 currently! They are side by side on iTunes lol 😆
