Nearly 15 years separate music lovers from the Sade‘s last album, ‘Soldier of Love‘ (2010), but she hasn’t completely left them abandoned without new tunes in the time since.
After dropping standalone singles ‘Spring in the City‘ (2016), ‘Flower of the Universe‘ (2018), and ‘The Big Unknown‘ (2018), the R&B icon – two years after she was confirmed to be recording new music – is back with another offering unattached to a studio project: ‘Young Lion.’
“Young man / It’s been so heavy for you / You must have felt so alone / The anguish and pain / I should’ve known / With such a heavy burden / You had to carry all on your own / Forgive me, son,” she sings on the heart-tugging tune.
The proud mom of transgender son Izaak Theo Adu, ‘Lion’ comes as Sade’s contribution to ‘Transa‘ – a new compilation album by the AID/HIV relief charity organization Red Hot in support of trans and non-binary awareness.
