Wicked unexpectedly took on a controversial new meaning for the forthcoming Universal Pictures film starring GRAMMY winners Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande ahead of flying into theaters on November 22.
A rather unfortunate misprint on the packaging for ‘Wicked‘ character dolls made by Mattel led consumers to the adult website Wicked.com instead of the film’s official site Wickedmovie.com.
At present, the former leads visitors to a pornographic film titled ‘Kenzie Loves Girls 2‘ – much to the shock and horror of parents who purchased the toys.
In response to the now-viral faux pas, a rep from Mattel issued a formal apology on Sunday (November 10).
“Mattel was made aware of a misprint on the packaging of the Mattel Wicked collection dolls, primarily sold in the U.S., which intended to direct consumers to the official WickedMovie.com landing page. We deeply regret this unfortunate error and are taking immediate action to remedy this. Parents are advised that the misprinted, incorrect website is not appropriate for children. Consumers who already have the product are advised to discard the product packaging or obscure the link and may contact Mattel Customer Service for further information,” they said.
The dolls were quickly snatched from the digital shelves of major online retailers like Target and Amazon.
At the time of this report Grande nor Erivo have made a public statement about the matter.
CG team should’ve covered her ugly green face for the entire movie 🤮💅🏽
Green face is very offensive to green aliens. This movie needs to be cancelled
