The X-Factor 2011 saw its first set of eliminations tonight. Find out who’s heading home this week…
{For those unfamiliar with The X Factor, the show is the UK’s version of American Idol – with a twist in that groups and over 25’s are eligible to enter. Now in it’s eighth season, the show is responsible for birthing the careers of Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke, and JLS. Its US incarnation launched last month FOX}.
With ‘The Twist’ meaning 4 acts were the chopping block, it was down to each judge to effectively eliminate one of their own acts by saving the 3 they favoured most.
In the end, Louis Walsh let go of JonJoe Kerr (Over 25’s), while Gary Barlow dropped James Michael, Tulisa axed 2 Shoes, while Kelly Rowland cut Ameilia Lily.
The X Factor continues on ITV1 next Saturday.

kelly made the right decision based on performances from last night. sophie’s performance was strong as hell. amelia can blow but that was the wrong song choice especially on the part when she sung ‘the kid is not my son” it sounded strained. If anything Janet should have left. I know the uk prob mad at Kelly’s decision but it was going to be a “bad choice” either way she went. Great Judging Kells!
OK,i may be alone on this one BUT,WHY DO I HAVE THE STRONGEST FEELING THAT @S*** AND @THE GREAT LACEFRONCE KNOW EACH OTHER,OR BETTER YET STILL,ARE *GASPS* THE SAME PERSON!!! thing is i actually like s***(but your stanning can be a bit much lol,but i’ve told u how hilarious u are before) same with lacefronce’s hating self! like i actually chuckle at some of the comments he/she makes! but hmmm…IDK there is something about the way these 2 comment that is very similar. idk,*hides behind weave before i get attacked by both parties*
anyway,back on topic,i’m not really checking for the UK’s x factor this year,sorry :/
With being 16yo and having so much potential i woulda kept Amelia.
Sophie is loved by Kelly and she sung very well last night.
I just don’t see longevity for her in this show but being under the radar may actually work for her.
The other exits were predictable
Kelly the no talent c*** Rowland is just jealous that Amelia is more talented than her so she cut her.
Mel G might be a singer but she has no idea how to mentor anyone. She doesn’t even have an ear for music … when her people sing outa tune she doesn’t know how to make them sing in tune. She has made many blues but tonight she made the biggest blue of all and don’t let her on the show next year or you will lose all your credibility and half of your listeners. It certainly is not a talent show it is just who has the most friends with the most money to vote. Everyone is feeling completely gutted after seeing one of the best acts you have ever had been sent home because Mel G stuffed up as usual.
