As Jennifer Hudson learned last year after crowning herself the “Princess of Christmas,” fans of Queen of Christmas Mariah Carey (affectionately called #Lambs) don’t take kindly to self-appointed honorific titles related to the yuletide holiday.
The lesson is one now being extended to Hudson’s fellow daytime TV talk show host Sherri Shepherd after the comic-actress proclaimed Tamera Mowry-Housley one of the season’s reigning monarchs.

Hot on the promo trail for her new reality competition ‘Baked with Love: Holiday,‘ Mowry-Housley dropped by Monday’s episode of ‘Sherri‘ (October 20) to dish on the series, her longtime relationship with the Hallmark channel, and more.
While reflecting on how stocked her 30-plus-year-career is with holiday-themed TV shows and films, Shepherd argued the 47-year-old actress deserved more credit for her contributions to the season.
“Mariah Carey is the self-proclaimed ‘Queen of Christmas’…are you planning on joining the royal family?,” Sherri asked (as seen in the video above) before saying, “We know you for Christmas – your movies [and more].”
Branding Tamera a “Queen of Christmas in her own way,” Sherri asserted the ‘Sister, Sister’ star needs to be as celebrated as the Songbird Supreme.
“You need to be up there with Mariah Carey I think,” the hostess relayed.
Mowry-Housley was receptive of the praise.
“If I’m a part of anything with Mariah Carey, [I’d] absolutely [like to be part of the Christmas royal family],” she said in response before elaborating on how she’s also been dubbed the “Queen of Hallmark.”

Well, Mariah withdrew her application to trademark “Queen of Christmas” because of the opposition she received. So, legally anyone can use it. I’m glad Sherri said “self-proclaimed.” It was ridiculous for Mariah to even attempt to make the title official. Did Aretha, Mary J., or even Michael Jackson ever attempt to legalize their royal titles? No, they allowed the public to just widely recognize it. Mariah should have done the same, but instead she turned it into a debatable issue.
Mariah did no such thing! The first time I heard of her being referred to as “Christmas Queen” was years ago by Tamar Braxton!
Queen of bed wenching is more like it.
