The Grammy-winning rap star added the word “lesbian” among a string of personal descriptors, sparking conversation across social media about whether the ‘Denial Is A River’ hitmaker has updated how she identifies.
The moment lands after years of the Florida native speaking openly about her queerness. In 2024, she told Gay Times that:
“I think I’ve always been gay. I always knew I was gay. I’m currently bisexual. I am with a woman now and I have always known that I loved women.”
Two years before that, she explained to GQ:
“I always knew that I was queer, and I was bisexual. But I didn’t really feel comfortable talking about it, because nobody around me was gay.”
The speculation comes amid a career high. Following the breakout success of ‘Alligator Bites Never Heal,’ Doechii made history with a Best Rap Album Grammy win, while her reworked demo ‘Anxiety’ recently scooped Best Music Video at the awards.
