Stephanie Mills has made no secret of her admiration of Chris Brown over the years, especially as it relates to comparisons he’s courted to her longtime friend and King of Pop Michael Jackson.
But, for those who were wondering where she stands amid Brown’s ongoing legal woes, she recently doubled down on her support – urging “haters” to leave his past in the past.

Amid dodging jeers from Lady Gaga fans (affectionately called #LittleMonsters) for her less-than-favorable statements about the Pop diva during a recent sit-down with BET’s ‘The Jason Lee Show,’ the same interview is seeing Mills catch heat for reaffirming her support of Brown.
“I think he should be given redemption. I love Chris Brown; I think he’s the closest thing to Michael Jackson there is – with dancing and everything,” said Stephanie before emphasizing, “[The 2009 Rihanna incident] happened; he was young, she was young. She’s forgiven him, why are [critics] still messing [with him]?”
Later in the clip, Mills encouraged Chris to pay the “haters” no mind and refrain from addressing the commentary about his controversial past – timely advice given his recent headline-grabbing reaction over that Texas recognition fiasco.
And for those who disagree with her assessment of the R&B bad boy’s predicament, the 69-year-old had a clear message.
“I’ll never apologize for anything I say. So, don’t ask me or come to my page saying [anything]. I’m not apologizing,” she relayed.
That’s not all she said.

Stfu old ashy t r an n y. Your opinion don’t mean nun. Chris brown will never be MJ. Praising your own people but talking smack about their races. Guess who’s the real racist there?
Chris Brown is a woman abuser. It is awful for her to said something like that. She needs to be canceled ASAP.
In the name of ghetto Fabulous, I shall twerk on you! 👩🏿🦱👩🏿🦰👧🏾👩🏿🦳👵🏻
The fact that she did such an interview with Jason Lee tells me all I need to know about why she never went far after the 80s. Stephanie is a great vocalist and performer but she needs to learn how to just shut up just like Anita Baker. They do too much to be this legendary in their art.
She must be delusional.
