As we reported here, World Suicide Prevention Day 2020 (September 10) brought with it ‘OK Not to be OK’ – the uplifting new single from Demi Lovato and Marshmello.
“It’s okay not to be okay/ It’s okay not to be okay/ When you’re down and you feel ashamed/ It’s okay not to be okay,” Lovato sings on the tune’s inspiring chorus.
Designed to build awareness for Hope For The Day (HFTD) – a non-profit movement empowering the conversation on proactive suicide prevention and mental health education – the song comes as Lovato’s latest effort to bring special attention to mental health-related matters.
The day of its release she took to Instagram to say:
“Since a young age I’ve dealt with suicidal thoughts and depression. I’ve been very vocal in raising the awareness of mental health because it is possible to see the light when you start the work on yourself. I’m living proof that you never have to give into those thoughts. I’ve had many days where I’ve struggled but please let this song be an anthem to anyone who needs it right now.”
Her heartfelt message apparently resonated with many as peruse of the refreshed Hot 100 reveals the tune made a promising premiere in the top 40.

Tamar Braxton found herself at the center of many a headline earlier this month after ex-boyfriend David Adefeso filed a domestic violence restraining order against her.
In the time since, the former couple have gone back and forth by way of the media – with sources close to Braxton asserting that the Nigerian entrepreneur threatened to kill her, while Adefeso claimed the ‘Love & War’ singer punched him in the neck as he drove.
Compounding the chaos was the fact that the incident occurred just weeks after 42-year-old Braxton allegedly attempted to commit suicide. A move allegedly was spurred by a meltdown she had about the negative portrayal of her relationship with Adefeso on her new reality show; a show which, after ample off-camera drama, saw Braxton and WE tv sever ties.
