After two former managers, his publicist, fans, and even the jailed Suge Knight all slammed him for their respective reasons in just the last two weeks, now Grammy winning singer Chris Brown is seeing his name atop negative headlines again.

As we shared here, the stageblazer and friends were reportedly kicked out of a rental property in Ibiza after allegedly damaging the property and staying longer than their rental agreement allowed.  After the story gained some serious traction, Breezy opted to clap back at the claims and even has video proof.

That’s how long fans of Maxwell were forced to wait for his newest release ‘blackSUMMERS’night’ – part 2 of his album trilogy.  Released to hungry fans on July 1, the project – kicked off by the #1 R&B single ‘Lake By the Ocean’ – comes as the long-awaited follow-up to 2009’s Grammy winning set ‘BLACKsummers’night’ (featuring the hit ‘Pretty Wings’).

Originally set for release in 2010, the new album’s 6 year pushback – once thought to only increase the intensity of anticipation for its premiere – has seemed to do the opposite (if preliminary figures are judged).  According to industry analysts, the lack of buzz surrounding the project, in conjunction with spotty promo, will see it fall far from the 300k first week sales of its predecessor.

Fans on the fence after reports of Apple Music’s intent to acquire TIDAL can breathe a sigh of relief knowing insiders at the company are saying the rumor is completely untrue.

After a story posted by Wall Street Journal yesterday, numerous outlets began reporting (and analyzing) the acquisition as the long-sought alleviation of the financial and reputational headache TIDAL was becoming for a number of key players – namely Jay Z.

However, just a day after the story got off the ground, it may already be deflated.  Details inside:

Your thoughts?

Nearly seven years have separated fans of singer/songwriter Maxwell from new material from the Grammy winner, but that long wait drew to a close today thanks to the release of his latest project ‘blackSUMMERS’night.’

The second installment of a trilogy of albums of the same name (with different emphases), ‘SUMMERS’ has big footsteps to follow given its predecessor’s whopping 316,000 units sold first week.  And, while the new project’s lead single – ‘Lake By the Ocean’ – has made quite the splash on charts (currently buoyed at #1 on R&B charts) – there is an admitted absence of buzz around this installment compared to its platinum-selling forerunner.

Add to this a change in musical landscape (see:  shift in consumption, trap music, etc.) in conjunction with Drake‘s ongoing domination of streaming (an outlet Max’s overall SPS figure will probably benefit least from), it’s pretty clear the ‘Pretty Wings’ singer has an uphill battle before him.

But, if there’s anything his fanbase is proven, is that they’re patient and loyal…

‘Making a Murderer’ is the name of Joe Budden‘s lyrical assault on rivals Drake & Meek Mill.

Named after the controversial Netflix series, the cut houses razor sharp lyrics from the lyricist penned to sting Jay-Z and the aforementioned rivals following his departure from the ‘Love & Hip Hop’ family.
