Pop pin-up Justin Bieber continues his foray into the world of R&B with new song ‘PYD’. So what better way to validate his new musical agenda than calling on the King of R&B, R. Kelly for the latest release in his Music Monday series.

The Pied Piper joins the purveyor of “Bieber Fever” on the slow-burning cut, with surprisingly refreshing results. Take a listen below…

Already delayed in earnest, Chris Brown‘s sixth studio album ‘X’ was dealt a devastating blow when the singer was arrested and jailed on suspicious of assault last month.

The ‘Fine China’ led set had danced around a number of release dates, yet was -at that point- scheduled to hit stores on December 3rd.

However, with the 24-year-old rushed into rehab for three months in the wake of the drama, it rendered the promo run required for a major album launch virtually impossible. As such, making the latest date likely impossible too.

Still, in recognising how important it is to consistently maintain a musical presence, C.Breezy is gearing up to roll-out a new mixtape, aptly titled ‘X Files’.

On the singles’ charts intermittent songstress Rihanna is not a force to be reckoned with, she is the forced to be reckoned with.

Surpassing or least matching many-a-Billboard Hot 100 placement stat of legendary acts like Madonna, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, and now even threatening Elvis Presley’s record, the pop princess has seen a reign unlike any of her contemporaries (or predecessors) given her less than a decade long tenure.

However, as the statistics that accompany her 7 studio albums in as many years reveals, the goat buck stops there.  For, five months ago we shared news that the ‘Disturbia’ diva had hit the 9.8 million albums sold mark.  Now, via refreshed reports, it appears she has barely passed the 10 million mark…of collective albums sold.

Is this bad news or just a sign of the times?  Weigh in below:

With pot purse nowhere in sight, pop princess Miley Cyrus still managed to get high on ‘X Factor UK’ today…by wielding a rocky performance of her latest #1 hit ‘Wrecking Ball’.

As her ‘Bangerz’ tour nears, the songstress has been spotted in a number of places delivering live performances to (what we hope is) encourage ticket sales.  If the standing ovation that succeeded this performance is any indication, Cyrus may have succeded.

“The show is over, say goodbye”

Madonna‘s 1994 foray into R&B wasn’t as well received as she would have wanted. Still with ‘Bedtime Stories’, the icon delivered many an underrated cut. On the singles-front, we feel like one in particular doesn’t get as celebrated as it should. Of course, we’re referring to the stunning ballad ‘Take A Bow’.

Penned by Babyface (who also provides background vocals), the gem shares the same theme as Rihanna’s and Leona’s songs of the same name. Indeed, the lyrics see Madge congratulating her love interest for fooling her with flying colors and breaking her heart – urging him to take one final bow and leave.

Although it seems to be forgotten by many – including Madonna, who never performed it on any tour – it’s interestingly the diva’s longest running #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with 7 weeks at the top. Its mellow groove paired with the Babyface affiliation helped it reach the Top 40 of the Billboard Hip-Hop/R&B chart. Unfortunately its US success didn’t translate into an overseas triumphant. Expect for a few countries, the track was only a moderate hit in Europe ending her run of 35 consecutive Top 10 singles in the UK.

A gorgeous song deserves a gorgeous video and that’s exactly what the track’s accompanying clip is… GORGEOUS.

Echoing the Spanish-flavor of the song, the visual – shot in Spain – had a Corrida theme and featured Spanish bullfighter Emilio Muñoz. Directed by Michael Haussmann, it depicts a dysfunctional relationships between an aristocrat M-Dolla and a passionate Muñoz.

With beautiful lyrics, a solid vocal performance, and an amazing video, we don’t quite understand how this missed the “signature songs” boat; qualitatively, it sits comfortably beside classics such as ‘Live To Tell’ and ‘Drowned World’.

Either way, with Ms. Ciccone putting in motion plans for her next studio effort, we ask you to join us at TGJ HQ in a prayer circle to guaranty that she delivers tunes and videos as solid and qualitative as these. Clearly a woman who once was able to bless the world with something this good shouldn’t settle for trend-chasing and “recession videos”
