Despite making an enemy out of many of his contemporaries in and outside of the music business, 6ix9ine‘s success has endured to almost puzzling heights.

The impetus behind his popularity has become a muse for filmmakers who have sought to bring his childhood story and tale of his meteoric rise to fame to the small screen via two separate, unrelated documentaries – Hulu’s ’69: The Saga of Danny Hernandez’ and Showtime’s ‘Supervillain: The Making of Tekashi 6ix9ine.’ While the latter isn’t due until next year, the former hit screens this week to critical acclaim.

Yet, for all the fanfare it’s generated there’s one who is unlikely to be imparting a standing ovation: the rapper himself.

In summer 2019, Post Malone‘s name was penciled in Hot 100 history when his song, ‘Circles,’ logged a whopping 39 weeks in the tally’s top 10.  The win was all the more noteworthy as the previous recordholder was ‘Sunflower,’ another Malone song, which captured a 33-week run in the same chart region during its popularity peak.

Once thought an insurmountable feat, the refreshed Hot 100 reveals the GRAMMY nominee’s reign in record books is set to be dimmed by ‘Blinding Lights’ – the 2020 megahit from his ‘Ghost’ co-star The Weeknd.

Though excited at news Future & Lil Uzi Vert finally dropped their long-awaited joint project, ‘Pluto x Baby Pluto,’ last Friday (November 13), many fans initially expressed disappointment the 16-track affair didn’t house the previously released songs ‘Patek’ and ‘Over Your Head.’

Those complaints must have reached the desk of the rappers’ teams because Tuesday (November 17) brought with it the unveiling of the LP’s deluxe edition (which is packed with 8 more songs, including ‘Patek’ and ‘Over Your Head’).

As we reported yesterday, ‘Pluto’ is locked in a tight race against legendary rockers AC/DC for the Billboard 200’s championship.  The additional tracks may act as just the streaming push needed to ensure the duo outpace their nearest competitor for the throne.

It’s a good week to be 6ix9ine.

After Showtime announced they were hard-at-work on ‘Supervillain,’ a documentary about his troubled life and rise to fame, Hulu unveiled their non-fictional account of his life via the Vikram Gandhi-directed film, ’69:  The Saga of Danny Hernandez’ this week (click here to watch the trailer).

As if the critical acclaim that’s accompanied the latter isn’t enough to celebrate, the Recording Industry of America (RIAA) has given the rapper (born Daniel Hernandez) yet another reason.
