Katy Perry may have delivered the 2020 anthem we didn’t know we needed courtesy of the revamped edition of her latest release, ‘Resilient.’

With its original incarnation found aboard her latest studio album, ‘Smile’ (click here to stream), November 13 brought with it the remix of ‘Resilient’ rendered by Dutch DJ and record producer Tiësto alongside Spanish Pop star Aitana (as we reported here).

To further drive its uplifting message home, Perry – as part of Coke’s new “Open to Better” campaign – joined forces with director Chloe Wallace to unveil the tune’s official music video

Speaking on the inspiring cut, Perry stated:

“I loved the unity perspective Aitana brought to the song, and how it evolves the message into the importance of being resilient as a group. It’s not always just about personal growth, we need to grow together too!”

Spilling details of the Coke campaign, Katy revealed:

“To me, this campaign is about growing through challenges. I think the song ‘Resilient’ ties so well into that because being resilient is getting back up after you fall, growing from failure, and getting through that challenge.”

This week sees Queen Naija reign atop of the Billboard Top R&B Albums tally with debut album ‘Missunderstood.’ A set which also earned the driven star her first top 10 on the Billboard 200.

But she isn’t resting on her laurels.

Fuelled by the project’s early success (which includes single ‘Butterflies Pt. 2′ hitting #1 on Urban AC radio), the 25-year-old is hot on the promotional trail.

That Grape Juice‘s Lettija Lee caught up with the singer to discuss her unique journey – which includes starting (and staying) on YouTube, becoming a mother upon signing her deal, and more.

Ever candid, Naija also dished on disproving her detractors, defining success on her own terms, and readying a deluxe edition of ‘Missunderstood.’

With 1.7 Billion combined streams to her name and an empire that’s growing by the day, there’s no stopping this star’s ascend.

Despite a slew of successive wins across film and television roles like ‘Body Cam,’ Netflix’s ‘Mudbound’ and ‘Umbrella Academy,’  STARZ’ ‘Power Book II,’ and more, Mary J. Blige hasn’t left her music fans feeling abandoned.

In addition to unveiling a number standalone singles over the last couple of years (many in support of the acting endeavors she’s undertaken), the Queen of Hip Hop Soul has also kept specialty projects rolling – especially around the holidays.

And, while diehard fans still spin her star-studded ‘A Mary Christmas’ LP every yuletide season since its 2013 release, Blige is now looking to add another cut to that playlist.

Nigeria’s own Burna Boy returned to the historic Brixton Academy two years after his triumphant sold-out 2018 show. And this time, it was to stage a special spectacle in partnership with tech innovators MelodyVR.

Backed by his full band The Outsiders, the African Giant peppered the stage with hits from new album ‘Twice As Tall.’

Turbo-charged with energy, the star thrilled with flavoursome jams such as ‘Real Life,’ ‘Monsters You Made.’ and ‘Wetin Dey Sup.’

Elsewhere, Burna blazed with much-loved bangers from the GRAMMY-nominated and critically acclaimed ‘African Giant’ LP. These included ‘On The Low,’ ‘Killen Dem’ and rousing anthem ‘Anybody.’

Classics ‘Ye’ and ‘Soke’ also added to what was an unmissable set.

Ever one to use his platform for potent causes, the star – born Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu – delivered an impassioned rendition of ’20 10 20,’ which addresses the Lekki Massacre and the #EndSARS protests.

Throughout, the interactiveness of MelodyVR (which allowed “attendees” to toggle angles and more) brought the action closer than ever before. A reality Burna’s legions of fans no doubt appreciated, after
scheduled performances at Glastonbury, Wireless, and a planned tour were paused.

Perhaps resonant was how much of a testament Burna’s show was to the possibilities embedded in the virtual show format. Especially in the current climate.
