Kehlani fans gearing up to catch the R&B songstress as the supporting act on Justin Bieber‘s forthcoming ‘Changes’ tour (as we reported here) are also undoubtedly expecting her new album to precede the jaunt’s May 14 kickoff.

Having dropped standalone singles over the last few months (and played co-star to a number of other well-received R&B bops since the delivery of her 2019 ‘While We Wait’ mixtape), the 24-year-old has been consistently releasing music to tide fans over until the arrival of her sophomore effort – the follow-up to 2017’s ‘SweetSexySavage.’

Although reportedly hard at work on the project with an announcement of its due date imminent, Kehlani took to social media over the weekend to confirm the opus has been delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

As if its unexpected release wasn’t surprise enough, Lil Uzi Vert is making jaws drop with the sales figures accompanying his highly anticipated sophomore album, ‘Eternal Atake.’

Delivered a week ahead of schedule, the March 6-unveiled project not only sold almost double that of its nearest competitor (Jhené Aiko‘s ‘Chilombo’) but was also greeted with the biggest first week numbers of the year among solo acts.

Curious to see how close the effort landed to its previously prediction of 325,000 units shifted (as we reported here)? Meet us after the jump to see:

Despite the legal drama that almost impeded its release (click here to read more), ‘Suga’ – the latest body of work from Megan Thee Stallion – strutted to digital shelves March 6.

First reported to be her long-awaited debut LP, the 25-year-old later made the clarification the opus would serve as an EP to ‘tide fans over’ until she made the official drop of her inaugural album.

Battling two of season’s biggest Urban releases, Jhené Aiko‘s ‘Chilombo’ and the surprise-released ‘Eternal Atake’ from Lil Uzi Vert, ‘Suga’ – always expected to come in third place among the previously mentioned competitors – still brought with it the Rap diva’s highest first week sales to date.

Besting the 40,000 units industry analyst originally predicted the set would move (as we reported here), look inside to see ‘Suga’s final first week figures:

March 6 brought with it the highly anticipated release of Jhené Aiko‘s third album, ‘Chilombo.’

Led to chart battle by singles ‘Triggered,’ ‘None of Your Concern (featuring boyfriend Big Sean), and ‘P*$$Y Fairy,’ the star-studded LP  – which also counted some of Urban music’s biggest names like Nas, H.E.R., John Legend, Ab-Soul, Ty Dolla $ign, Future, Miguel, and more as guests – was an out-of-the-box critical success as it received thumbs up from some of the industry’s most recognized critics.

Originally predicted to see that fanfare mirrored commercially to the tune of 90,000 units shifted its first week (as we first reported here), that figure almost doubled when receipts were counted for the singer’s tour bundle which allowed one copy of ‘Chilombo’ to accompany any ticket purchased for her forthcoming ‘Magic Hour Tour’ (click here for dates).

The result?  Aiko debuted on this week’s Billboard 200 with the highest first week sales of her career. Details inside:

Shortly after sending her growing legion of fans into a frenzy with the release of her latest single ‘Levi High’ (as we reported here), rising singer DaniLeigh unveiled the video to the DaBaby-assisted tune.

Directed by Kat Webber, the visual sees the duo transforming into 2020’s ‘Bonnie & Clyde’ – joining forces to pull off the ultimate heist.

“Levi high jeans, sittin’ right, keep that a*s up / It’s a ’Gram flex, basic hoes gettin’ gassed up / N*ggas in my face, boy bye, n*gga back up / I’m a city girl, it’s only that I act up,” the songstress coos on the chorus.

Join us as we celebrate one of Pop’s biggest songs of all time. This week’s From The Vault pick is Janet Jackson’s 2001 hit ‘All For You,’ which is blowing its 19th anniversary candle this week.

The colorful number was helmed by Jackson alongside longtime collaborators Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and was the first single from the diva’s 7th studio album of the same name. It embodied the free-spirited vibe of the project which was released after her second divorce a year prior.

‘All For For You’ was nothing short of smash hit on a global scale. In the UK and France the song peaked at #3, it reached the fifth spot in Australia and was a chart-topper in Canada and in the US. Stateside, it made radio airplay history by becoming the first single to be added to every Pop, Rhythmic, and Urban radio format within its first week of release. Needless to say that in 2001, Janet was indeed the Queen of not just Pop – but Music overall.

**********

Dave Meyers was in tasked with bringing the track to visual life. He opted for a two-dimensional LA set affair which sees Janet riding the subway, hitting the beach with her friends and later on dancing up a storm (including THAT iconic dance break) on Hollywood Boulevard with her gal pals. Both the song and video are considered signature Janet moments and for good reason.

***********

A hit if we ever heard one, ‘All For You’ hasn’t aged one bit and is actually very on-trend with what a lot of successful artists are releasing today (see: Doja Cat’s ‘Say So’, Dua Lipa’s ‘Don’t Start Now’).

With Jackson’s next project, ‘Black Diamond,’ set to drop in a few months, maybe it’s time to touch base with that very sound, which over the course of her career has brought her ample success.

Whatever it is, we’re ready for the next chapter, Queen Janet.

Andrew Gillum, a former candidate for Florida governor, has announced that he will be voluntarily entering a rehab program.

The news comes just days after police discovered the political figure in an “inebriated” state in a Miami hotel…where crystal meth was found alongside another man believed to have almost overdosed.

In trying to piece together what had actually transpired, authorities tried to draw answers from Gillum – but he was described as unresponsive.

When the news hit, the married father of four explained in a written reply:

“I was in Miami last night for a wedding celebration when first responders were called to assist one of my friends. While I had too much to drink, I want to be clear that I have never used methamphetamines.

Now, he’s doubling down on the alcohol component of the narrative in a fresh statement. His words below:
