Within her feature spread, the 33-year-old opens up about her critically acclaimed current album ‘When I Get Home,’ its accompanying film, the notion of drawing on art to confront and conquer fear, black cowboy culture, and more.

For eight seasons, Showtime kept television lit in more ways than one with its dark comedy, ‘Weeds.’

The Emmy-winning sitcom, led by Mary-Louise Parker, told the story of a suburban mom who turned to dealing drugs after the unexpected death of her husband, the family’s breadwinner.

Viewers disappointed by the series’ departure from its home network’s roster in 2012 just got a new reason to smile as reports now indicate it’s not only being relit with a new channel, but original cast members have been tapped to reprise their roles.

Fans of ‘Lover’ singer Taylor Swift weren’t exactly loving the sparse list of dates announced for her forthcoming tour (as we revealed here). Kicking off summer 2020, the worldwide trek only sees her play four dates in her native United States – two on each coast respectively.

Yet, while her supporters – affectionately called #Swifties – increase calls for more opportunities to see their fave crank out her slew of hits, the Grammy winner’s (somewhat) answered courtesy of a free concert in Atlanta.

Much like the successes of their live remakes of some of movie history’s most beloved musicals, ABC struck ratings gold with the recreation of throwback television shows via their ‘Live in Front of a Studio Audience’ specials.

As we reported here, the network drew in a whopping 10 million viewers earlier this year with an ode to the groundbreaking 70’s series ‘The Jeffersons’ (starring Jamie Foxx, Wanda Sykes, Kerry Washington, and more).  After collecting an Emmy for that effort, ABC’s looking to do the same for their next adaptation as they turn to yet another iconic sitcom from the decade:  ‘Good Times.’

All roads lead to August 14 for award-winning singer/actress Jennifer Hudson as the diva prepares to unveil what may be the acting performance of a lifetime by bringing the story of one of her idols – the late Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin – to life via a highly anticipated big screen biopic.

Leading a star-studded cast that features the likes of Queen of Hip Hop Soul Mary J. Blige, Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, and many more (as we reported here), Franklin fans wary about Hudson’s ability to pull off the major role will have at least half of their fears eased when they cop a gander at the 38-year-old’s transformation for the project.

As we anxiously await our first views of her acting performance, one thing’s for sure:  she’s got the look down!  See video and photo highlights inside:

2019 has seen Ciara‘s brand level up in more ways than one thanks to a slew of endorsement deals for big names in fitness, fashion, health, beauty, and more. However, one of the singer’s most celebrated boss moves was a foray into movie and television development – a venture crowned by attaching her name as executive director to Nickelodeon’s ‘America’s Most Musical Family’ (as we first reported here).

A reality music competition, the new series sees 30 families from across the country compete for a $250,000 cash grand prize and recording contract with Republic Records.  In addition to production credits, Cici also lines the judging panel alongside David Dobrik and 80’s teen sensation Debbie Gibson.

Upon its premiere on November 1, the Nick Lachey-hosted showing kicked off to a promising start on the critical and ratings front.  Details inside:

Sevyn Streeter is playing no games with the roll-out of new single ‘Whatchusay.’

For, fresh from unleashing the track, she’s debuted its accompanying video.

Directed by Josh Tashiro, the dance-heavy visual is the first fruit of the singer’s sophomore album ‘Drunken Words, Sober Thoughts’ – which arrives via her own imprint TStreetz Corp early next year.

A$AP Rocky made headlines the world over when an incident in Sweden saw him jailed there for months.

Released while a verdict was pending, he was eventually convicted in his absence for assaulting locals he insisted were harassing him. He avoided more time in the slammer, as his incarceration was treated as time served.

Given the high profile nature of the case and how shocking it was, many assumed he’d never return to the region.

Well, wonders never cease. Because Rocky has revealed that he’ll be playing a show in the country next month.

The legendary Tina Turner sprung a surprise on the masses last night, when she made a rare appearance. And the occasion most certainly was worth it.

For, she was in the house at the Broadway debut of ‘Tina The Musical.’

Originally launched in London, the production was a huge success and now looks poised to replicate its West End win Stateside.

Post performance, Turner joined incredible lead Adrienne Warren on-stage and thanked the audience.
