Check out Jennifer Hudson!

The Grammy, Oscar, and Golden Globe winner turned heads at BET‘s annual Black Girls Rock extravaganza in New York last night. For, gone are the lengthy locks and in its place, a short, new pixie crop that has set many tongues wagging.

With new music on the horizon, it appears J.Hud is keen to pair it with a fresh new image. We like. Do you?

By all accounts, Jennifer Hudson’s third studio album is shaping up to be quite the masterpiece.

Enlisting the likes of Red One and Salaam Remi to help craft it, we had hoped the project would see her birth a Jill Scott meets Paloma Faith esque piece that would see her strike Adult Contemporary ground, winning over an older (and far more loyal) audience while doing so.

However, it appears the release will see the Oscar nabbing Grammy winner strike a healthy balance between Dance and Soul. Well, that is if her brand new effort ‘I Can’t Describe The Way I Feel’ is anything to go by.

Look who’s 40!

Indeed, ‘One Mic’ maestro Nas rang in the big 4-0 with a star-studded birthday bash this week in New York City with ‘Thank God I Found You’ co-star/pop icon Mariah Carey.

With rapper Common, Melanie Fiona, Tyson Beckford, Jermaine Dupri, and many more on hand to fill out the distinguished guest list, the private dinner boasted a more formal dress code while elsewhere wailer Jennifer Hudson brought her bday in with a costume heavy, retro-themed celebration in Chicago.

As fellow R&B songstresses Keke Wyatt and Tweet boogied through the night, the evening brought with it a colorful homage to the 80s/90s while JHud celebrated her 32nd bday.
